I will be getting either a server or vps around the end of the month probably since i now get a decent monthly wage.

More mirrors doesnt seem to eb the issue as I have mroe than enough bandwidth on my mirror and there are several others.

Instead its more funding for the server that actually hosts the main site. There's no point having 100 mirrors and petabytes of bandwidth if JJs server gets booted for not paying the bills.

However perhaps someone with a very good server wouldn't mind hosting JJs main site. JJ that way you could use your own server for personal use and as a mirror and cut back on how much your needing to spend.

As previously stated, I'd be happy to host it, I'm sure you could as well AF.

I can host the main site itself, but i dont really want to host huge mod/map content files, because im diskspace limited.
I have permanent, traffic unlimited VPS with 10mb/s upload.

- tasclient self update
- spring installer mirror
- springie stuff (self update, stats, smurfs databases)
- teamspeak server
- backup tracker for downloader system
- spring radio (not even sure if it still works, I forgot who maintains it :)

...or you could use some google ad-stuff. at least this works fine with spring-portal.com, I'm sure its not used half as much as springfiles but still the ad income is about as high as the server costs.

What are the monthly costs of jobjol and what are it's limits in diskspace/bandwidth/system specs?

yes google ads would be a good idea. but dont spam th site with advertisements because it will lag.

Is it only working when asking users to click ads?
If so, im not interested. Any suggestions to get usefull ads?

I got $9.20 from google ads on the side of darkstars just on the blog, I still have to reach ~$80 before I break even for the 3 years and its very slow, but Ill eventually get there. Your site on the other hand gets used a lot more. Thats just 17 clicks though.

spring-portal often shows ads regarding other (free) games and because of the "portal" everywhere on the site it also shows some ads to programming-stuff-sites. the content of the ads is often closely linked to the text of the selected navigation menu-item, joomla must have optimized this somehow...
and no, there is no forcing to click ads needed, but telling that you finance a spring filehost with ads surely helps

jj, I think you should just host the main site, and leave the file hosting to the mirrors. Just remove jobjol from the mirrors list ^_^ I use the darkstars mirror from the jj page most of the time anyways because AFs server sends me maps much faster.
