If it's an engine that you're marketing to developers, that's one thing.
If you're aiming for the 15-30 hardcore gamer core market, it's a godawful name. In fact I'd say that the name is a big reason why there aren't more players.
Why? Because in no way does "Spring" say "Exploding robots." In no way does it say ANYTHING about the content of the game.
This is the most basic rule of marketing and it's something that should be taken into account now that the chance to change the name is here.
Spring has got nothing to do with exploding robots. It's a platform to make games on. ANY type of game. "Spring" itself is fine as it is though some may argue about it. It's swedish for run by the way (a dev said so

).
Anyway it's just a name - you don't name your kid after what it should become once (like Lumberjack) now do you?
Just a question but did you play anything else except TA mods yet?

Technically it is an engine thats being used by developers to make their games, but we seem to have gotten into the habit of just calling them mods.

Hmmm yes, indeed. Let's hope someone can change the URL for the site.

Why not call it "The Fanciful and most Delightful Computerized Treat form the Sweet Swedish Soil!"

Spring is good.
The name needn't describe the product; Mozilla Firefox is one of the most successful Internet brosers around, and neither Mozilla nor Firefox has anything to do with Internet browsing.
The name needn't have a long descriptor or acronym after it, like the "Spring RTS" that some people have suggested; Mozilla Firefox is Mozilla Firefox, not Mozilla Firefox Internet Browsing Program.

but yes in deed the URL needs to be adjusted, and XTA must become seperated IMO. Spring should come with Nanoblobs, and when you installed it it should ask if you want to download more games/mods.
Or we dealing with games or mods here? I dunno.

It's my plan to use springrts.com with a new front page once Spring has a GPL release, still need a few good NanoBlobs screenshots.
