The anime had odd proportions:

All too often inconsistent.

I went with some of the later stuff as it considers scale and is consistent:

early anime to be specific.

Later anime has been much better about revisiting designs. The Japanese have produced a lot of stuff sense then that is quite in scale. :).

Gundam SEED, for example, is almost entirely consistent in that respect.

Though it still bends things a little. For example, the Aegis' transformation would require some very interesting adjustments, and some of the movement requires bizarre joint construction.

Well many theatrical and thematic productions have had problems with scale. Like in Waterworld, where the inside of the ship was at least three times bigger then the outside of the ship. Also what is that big old flying thing going to be? Gunship, troop ship, battle ship? Its some kind of ship, i know that for sure.

Norf, I suggested use of other anime some time ago.
Inded the designs from Gundam Seed are a little more thought out. And looks cooler overal IMO. Bad point is, if you create something as the Arch Angel or the Minerva, you need mad modeling skills. ^.^' (Yes, I once attempted to recreate them).

But you seem to (wisely) stick to MS Gundam :)

Gundam seed has no balance. it is too much like wing.

First(gundam) is more grounded with easier to balance units. Seed is not as challenging as you think. I really hate the geomitry of that anime. Also people can say what they want about zakus but the designs of seed are ass. Honestly I would not defile my machine with it. I will sooner add gundamX as a playable side before I would ever consider the angsty pile of shit that is seed.

So please do not mention that series.

problem with newer gundam is the story, become more and more stupid...
And character design is poor too (stupid name and all  )
the classic UC is certainly better....
If u have extra time better to add Sazabi or Geara Doga or the half bird stuff (Aziel IIRC) ... that wud be better than gundam X/wing stuff :)

I used wings 3d and the white base texture is not that big. Only 512X512

I remember one gundam that showed on cartoon network, where Japan was a giant gundam, and the final climactic battle was finished by a heart shaped love beam... some of the gundams in that looked pretty cool... I suppose you would exclude those on principle... right?

Ah, G Gundam. The show that makes every sensible human being ask "What were they thinking, exactly?"

what were they thinking, actually?

if thats the one where gundams are shorter than people then it should be blatantly obvious they were thinking nothing, absolutely nothing.

if not then im truly sorry

"Victory Gundam was too damn depressing. We need something to cheer up the fans. Hey, I know! Let's cross Gundam with Dragonball Z!"

no... I think G-Gundam is the one with the superdeformed Gundams, and the whole thing is supposed to be stupid... I'm talking about the one where there is a series of gundam fights in a world Gundam tournament... and countries have "taken off" and become giant space habitats...

edit: I checked... G-Gundam is the freak one with the heart beam... don't know what the super deformed one is...
