We call "burger cheese" either "American Cheese" or "Kraft Single Slices"... they are closer "Cheez Whiz" then to actual cheese.

C0CK cheese?`:)

I'd say Parmesan beats pretty much everything.

But, if you visit Sweden, this is the king:

Admittedly I know approximately 17 words in German, but I thought it was funny that the word Västerbotten sounds like Verbotten and I was like "Mmmmm... Forbidden Cheese..."

why would you buy this filth when you can pay slightly more and get pre-sliced deli cheeses for your burger? i got a bag of cheddar slices and a bad of havartis, and i've never been happier

i guess my favourite cheeses are colby and monterey jack; both nice mild creamy ones.

That cheese is amazing on burgers, thats why!

My favorite non-burger cheese is smoked butterkase.

la vache qui rie and some others mentioned here, remind me on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheese_analogue
the german article is better:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kunstk%C3%A4se
... as it explains the real reason for these "cheeses" to exist: they are cheaper in production.

1984: "proper cheese!!"

la vache qui rie is "blend of cream, milk and fresh and aged cheeses", it is not a cheese analogue... American cheese is "processed cheese" but still counts as cheese when using the linked English article as a definition (as it's made from some dairy products)... though I personally don't count "processed cheese" as cheese.

hehehe :D
aged cheese?? :D
that sounds like.. they collect old cheese from stores, that they were not able to sell, and then munch it together with some other stuff to produce this... cheese recycling!

Provolone

It is a sin to eat a ham and turkey sandwich without provolone.

Wouldn't say a sin so much as a tragedy... I for one often eat my ham sandwiches with cheddar... it's not "good" and to be honest sometimes I'd rather go without cheese on my sandwich then to have cheddar on it... but food is food. That said, cheddars are great in grilled cheese sandwiches.

But let's not get into sandwiches... I seem to recall there are very strong opinions on this forum regarding sandwiches and I don't want to offend anyone.
