This, but i m more interested in augmented reality googles- that way, the unrealistic goal of heaving all of humanity out of poverty into industrialized societys could get lost, because people who have every virtuell need, can forget about a lot of real world desires (beside clothing, shelter, food, medicals, that is), and what is even more amazing, even the lowest hut could contribute to humanitys knowledge base. Its as utopian as reality could get.

Just a Point of Order here, the 3D goggles in snow crash did act as augmented reality goggles (at least the ones he get's later on in the book)
