Kinda true, but they also like big games because it means it will start soon.
It is weird that before i used to play a lot of 1v1 and 2v2 etc... but when there are so many players, its just too easy to join the big games. Back then (2002 etc) when there were max 30 players in the MSN gaming zone, you could barely ever play 4v4, that was mostly result of 1 hour waiting. And we all knew each other skill level, (even without rank icons), for that reason games were more balanced too. Good old times...
These days there are thousands of players, and you cant really keep track each of their skill level, so you can only rely on autobalance (still remember the times when you balanced manually clicking each player in their own teams??!)
If there were no autohosts/autobalance, i dont think there would be so many big games either since the host would be too lazy to balance all those players manually...
4v4 is the best size for teamgames.. bigger than that is just a mess. I remember at year 2006 i used to host big games, just to mess, i wasnt seriously playing those... but nowadays everyone plays only those "joke games"

and they play them seriously... even my speedballs they play seriously...

they just dont get it... silly boys.
21% of the games are played in 8v8 DSD games :/

We need a secret police service to ban all players of shitty maps/mods
Starting with Senna's maps.
Lets get back to what it was like 4 years back, with 4v4s on crossing_4_final and team games on ccr

Oh yes we do, I just played 5 2on2 games versus pinks with keijj0, and it's always possible just to challenge some clan if you have pals online.
And yes, it's a shame that random players dont even bother to try these games, just because of one map and I think I dont need to mention it... Or I will. DSD with its massive cover for the bottom players looks and feels so easy, that people would be in trouble when playing talus/terra/comet.
Also, I wonder what's happening to 1on1 players, I see daily only maximum of 2 or 3 1on1 players online, plus all the oldies like Llama, Zissou and ShoX etc have disappeared. Spring's 21th of December, 2012 INC.

I just played Zissou... Then he disappeared
And crossing4final is kinda crowded for 8 players

Neddie... why are you shortening your name... first you removed "moderator" under your nick, and now this... are you gonna rename to Ned soon? and then just N.

I didn't remove Moderator under my name. I had Community Lead under my name, and following complaint I removed it. I might add it back later.

I like games with a lot of players, simply because my past RTS experience have never been on a large scale. Spring is the first RTS engine I've played with 16 player games. though i feel the maps that get a lot of players always feels too cramp. Need more 32x32 and up size maps.

There are plenty, but nobody wants to play them. Rock, Moon quartet, Tempest, centerrock, even dsd duo and dsd 8-way for the dsd people, just to name a couple.
The only one of those that is regularly played is Rock, and it's pretty crappy tbh, but maps like Tempest and Moon Quartet are amazing and way underplayed.

Those are all 20x20 or smaller Im pretty sure, besides the dsd 8way... Only the dsd versions oout of those are really suited for huge games in any way

Yeah they're not massive, but bigger than dsd and better suited for oversized games, imo. I'm sure there's other big ones out there but I can't think of the off the top of my head.

People play in 16 games because then it has more of a multiplayer feeling in it. Is it more fun to play football with 1-2 players or 2 teams with 5 players each

Using that logic a 100v100 game of football would be better, where no-one got the ball...

Using that logic you need infinite amount of anything if you ever felt you need more of something.
I am thirsty, i will drink 1000000000 litres of water and explode, at least i died happy.
