The more serious problem is that the forum is now like 6 inches wide on my 17 inch screen.
What's it, 800 width? Are we seriously deploying a fixed-width site... targeting a screen resolution which was common in the mid-1990s? What the hell?
It's a readability issue. I've seen pages that use the full width of my screen, and reading them was as painful as reading texts with no paragraphs, grammar and spelling.
So the width actually makes perfect sense, that and as mentioned, think of the netbook users.

There's a big difference between "full width" and "using more than half the screen space", tbh.
It's a readability issue now because it's so narrow.
I think the new color scheme just highlights it more, I find it a bit jarring with the sudden dark -> bright -> dark transitions, and my eyes keep being drawn upwards because of the gradient background, and all in all I'm rather underwhelmed and would REALLY like some options.
Just to save you some time I will summarize the next 3 posts:
"OMG HAO U NOT LIEK DIS ROFLCOPTR SPINT LOTZA TYME ON ITT!!!!11"
"OMG U ARE WHINGN STAOP IT K"
"OMG FUK U FLIX I LIAEK IT DERFOR IT R GUD!!!11!!~"
so you can skip those bits and get on with the self-congratulatory ass-kissing.

This look is great

Now all we need to do is fix up the games wiki page. All that needs to be done is some link fixing and screenshots.

Clearly the resolution needs to scale up on larger resolutions, but I agree that full width is a bit nuts. Maybe we should be making it scale up but topping it out at 90% of the screen width with a hard ceiling of around 1200 pixels wide for the largest resolutions.
http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=17 That's a list of the most common resolutions, it looks pretty obvious that 800x600 and some of the smaller sizes are on their way out.
Also, maybe it makes sense to use some sort of website stats tracking package like Google Analytics so we can see what everyone here is using and specify widths based off our actual user profile. (Also I'm sure there's a bunch more neat data in there, like where our users are coming from so we can think about alternate language versions, or what browsers people are using, or even total hits.)

Excellent job Roflcopter, Fnordia and everyone involved.
I think the forum background needs to be adjusted a little, it's too light in contrast to the new site's background.
And what are you talking about the width? Is it not about the same as the old site's?

Use a browser that supports full page zoom. I've got my ff3 set at, I dunno, something like 150% and I set it to that on most pages I visit since the designers usually don't care that this text thingie is what I actually want to read. Typography FTW.

I was going to mention that too. He seems to be using a WAY too high resolution for his 17" anyway, I think he should just decrease the resolution, or get a larger monitor.

OT: too high resolution is what my friend has on his laptop - 15,4" wide screen with full HD. yes, 1920x1080. no, you can't see shit.

When are we going to be able to put our Welcome images back up?
Getting a little impatient, over here- being able to advertise new games was the primary reason for launching this effort in the first place...

Tried that, it's locked. Can't post there, so therefore no way to do it. And, of course, the code putting the bar has to get removed again, etc., so that we're right back to where we finally ended up.
Meh, I should just be patient, maybe a new Group has to be set up, etc., etc.
