Lets see, you and this other fellow haven't played on this server. This is why it amuses me to see the type of rabble I choose to ban is so justified when I do:
Code: Select all

So you prefer a world in which everybody has a god-given right to everyone else's servers?

Oh, in case there's common sense lacking (and for shame, no one lacks common sense right???) if you have a clan tag and you behave badly it will reflect badly on your clan.... Because? You and your attitude, behavior in and out of game represent your clan, just as every member does.
For [roll] to get banned I saw examples of pretty much the same behavior and attitude across the board prior to the ban coming into place. After the ban came into place, Sefidel and pretty much everyone else in [roll] continued to give me reasons to maintain the ban.
Banning [roll] was perhaps the best decision in the long term of rule 5) special case bans I've ever done. It's amazing how far people go to prove themselves wrong... over and over.
It's not the graveyard of hopes for nothing, and making threats to admins because you want an unban... you might as well dig a grave for your hopes of getting unbanned.

There's no way a list of the banned would tell you if they were out of line either, so I hardly see your point. As far as I am concerned, the only proof is in a replay, to justify it, or to even argue it, a replay.
I still don't see how that's remotely unreasonable.
I also don't see the credibility behind your criticisms in the fact that most if not all the steps I've taken with server configuration was to keep idiots from crashing it, keep idiots out of the game so people could enjoy it without having one of their team mates f-ing around and destroying their bases, stealing their coms and stuff along those lines. People still complain about playing with noobs, but everyone starts off playing like a noob, until they get better. The server is noob friendly, it's always full, save when there's a technical issue and unattented, this is fixed as soon as I see it and notice it. That's why the admins are around.
And for someone who's never played on the server, you're pretty damn vocal, besides being a smartass with me in PM and #main yesterday, not to mention here in the thread, what's your real interest in this? There's nothing remotely objective about your criticisms, you don't play on the server, you don't run your own autohost that I know of, you don't deal with the issues directly, and yet there you are on your high horse taking potshots.
I could easily make the ban list public, but so far, the banned have done nothing but used it to decry the server as some sort of fascist stronghold. Politically it certainly ain't a democracy.
Some people have made an interesting point of the fact that I'm putting my resources, hardware, bandwidth, mostly TIME really to run this host. I run this server because I can, and because I want to, because I have the hardware and bandwidth and time to run it, I could just as easily not run it, I certainly would have a lot more time on my hands.
I've played on other autohosts and found them unattended, sometimes crashing, often with griefers, sometimes the *only* game in town that could be played, so I got pissed, told everyone that I was setting up this host, and I did. It's been running two months and now it's one of the hosts that people most talk about, either love or hate. Wasn't something I was expecting.
I don't know if it's the best host running, but it's
*troll free*. If that's not an improvement then I don't know what is.

Children,
Bad start.
The roll clan is to my understanding one person. If they are not, then they should have thought twice before letting that one person use their account to grief. No shit what did you think would happen?
I, a
server administrator, have a [roll] account to monitor behavior in autohosts.
Some commands are disabled because the people you claim are victimized would repeatedly run these commands until the bot exceeded the master server traffic limit. I will try to explain this in a simple way:
IF IT HAPPENS DURING YOUR GAME, YOUR GAME MAY END.
All bot owners do this, my hosts which together offered almost 2000 play hours for fifteen different content packages in the time they were up had several disabled commands.
Well not all of you, since so many of you are banned now isn't it? Regret must have been a pretty good ban, considering the low level noise he's making in the thread.
Regret probably Comm dropped or something. Entirely legit.
You are free to continue your circle jerk of zomgwtfbbqlol. You do not understand the situation, and when explained to you all you can think is "lol", and go right back to your stupid opinions. Fortunately for all, you are irrelevant.
As are you.
This thread is a place for people that were unfairly banned to present their arguments and replays. You will notice that for all the talk, nobody walked the walk. So i my reading of this is that there isn't a single unfair ban and all admins are tiptop.
To be honest, before this thread i thought there may be a rogue admin banning too much. Now i don't think that anymore, but i am still open for complaints.
Control over your personnel is of the utmost importance.
Mephistos is a busy man and the lack of any substance in the posts in this thread is probably why he won't come here.
Meanwhile Mephisto's Lair is the best and fairest autohost, each day getting better thanks to the removal of the scum.
Personally, I think the best autohost was Anneddielation, though Ashnal[BOT] is pretty good.
Try not to be scum. It is possible.
Please, walk how you talk.

Neddie,
Thanks. It's good to see at least some coherent discussion here.
I have been keeping a close eye on our admin's activities. When I've received complaints in the past from legit sources I've removed privileges until the issue was clarified by means of a replay or log or other explanation. In other cases I've handled it personally.
Also I'm just curious just how a [roll] account helps you monitor behavior in autohosts?
As for claims of status of the host... I don't have any, that's not my place to make. I do my best to keep it running.

My normal account represses offensive activity through the imposition of fear, so a selection of lesser smurfs allows me to monitor without modifying the behaviour of the players.

I think you forgot to post the reason for that comment. But if i cared about insults to me, the banlist would be indeed massive.
Neddie, i dont trust you nearly enough to unban aa roll for you. I see you made your way into adminship here. Good job on that. But lets be clear, if you were awake at the helm we wouldn't be having this conversation, now would we? So you have a roll account. Well what did you do about them? We each help how we can.
So if you have a point make it, because turning my words against me with no point looks like all style and no substance to me.

I am awake at the helm. I've banned three griefers this week. I just happen, like you, to be deplorably human. I have a job, I have other concerns.
You are being condescending to your peers and not addressing their concerns. I have no reason to be kind to you.

I do not consider griefers to be my peers. And i will be condescending to those that come here to say lol without even knowing what we are talking about. I also am not kind, but i have often been called generous in my activities regarding the lair.
Do you think i have ignored someone's legitimate concerns? Who?

Legitimacy is not an object, you are not in a position to judge, you must investigate all issues with equal distance and effort.

I have reviewed all zero replays that were posted with equal distance and effort. I think that its all about legitimacy, and i am indeed in a position to judge. Honestly i am not understanding you.
