It's not exactly tank, but it was used as light tankette on several occasions.

I like these competitons, they get people posting their stuff who wouldn't otherwise, even though it rarely ever actually gets judged.
It also helps provide feedback for models, without wandering into "hows you liek mah 3 boxxs" territory.

True, and it also stimulates production.
I am seeing a good bit of new things that I haven't seen posted before, so its all good.

Looks like you just need to UVmap it properly Ian. Dont rely on wings auto-UV mapper. Assign uvcharts manually in order to get as many contiguous surfaces as possible without warping the geometry.
Think of it as if you were making the model out of a flat piece of paper, like a
net (You ever do that in school?).
Also, make the treads something more than elongated cylinders. They should be flat on the bottom and top, and only rounded on the edges.
The overall design is slick and stylish though, you are progressing.

I did do the consecutive uvmapping but all I have to go on is the gimp paturens for the textures because I'm not a computer artist.

You definitely need to put more effort into the tracks though.

Otherwise, what additional elements could you recommend?
The thing looks magnificent when its is in its folded up state, the visual balance is good there. When the thing is unfolded, however, there is juxtaposition between the canter leaver, struts and the fuck-off-giant-gun.
What would happen if the rear legs were moved closer to the back platform and were angled backwards a lot when unfolded?

Then why are your camo smudges confined to individual polygons or polygon groups?
The camo should be continuous over the surface, not one-smudge-per-polygon.

Initially that is where they were, the problem being that it became very difficult to avoid the gun clipping through the struts. In the current location, clipping cannot occur.
I'll see whether it can be adjusted via steep tilting; but I'd imagine that would require the strut to be unmanageably longer (hypotenuse length).

I understand.
Its just that if the feet of the struts were at least level with the cannon mount than the design would then visually resolve some of the forces.
But, nothing looks worse than a model that breaks itself.
It was just an idea anyway, it might make it look like shit.

8 sided cylinders are awesome. would also cut the poly count to 1/3 of what it is now.
