if u think about it thats how supcom's air transports work... they never actually land but rather hover close to the ground...
sheesh been playing the demo for four days how come i didn't think of that...
This will also make it seem less odd for the helos without landing gear.

If I see a comm all by himself I usually assassinate him with the attack helis I build early on. He isn't hard to kill, about 1500 hp or so.

I've just come back after a few months of playing other games, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with E&E. I last played 1.63, and I did enjoy it but it was difficult to find games. Now I come back, and while games aren't always easy to find I can usually find one. And to top it off, it looks absolutely fantastic! The weapon effects and new models/textures are really impressive, nice job!
I do think that perhaps some of the textures are a little noisy, and it can be difficult to distinguish between units (more than in 1.63 at least), though part of that can probably be attributed to the fact I'm not used to the new look.

Yeah, units and unitpics needs more differences... looks almost same all of them.
Basically the problem is that they all have same colors, except water and amphibious units.
And NO, its not about that i havent played E&E enough, because when i look any other mod, i can see much more differences between the units.
Its not nice to play a mod, when the unitpics doesnt represent the unit function in game at all, they just looks like different size rocks.
I mean, when i look at some unitpic, i should get some vision in my head what the unit does.

And how the hell did any of the TA/AA buildpics do that?

Simple answer: they did it better.
It just feels like im trying to tell differences from 200 different rocks which all looks almost same.
It is very hard when they all have same colors.

I am going to repeat my self on this whole thing. The TA glamour shot style build pictures look like shit. They have no unity of design and are about as random as me dumping a bucket of coins on the floor and using that to determine what direction I should buckle my belt from.
Yeah, subs and ships had some ocean or underwater picture of them them. However, they often obscure the unit or have soo much excess visual information that unless you stop and look hard you will not see the ship. It always looked random and thrown together... because I don't know... it WAS thrown together. It was a way for the TA peeps to get some sort of pretty shot of those very ugly models.
I have played EE since version 1.5 or 1.6 something online. I thought the new build pictures were clean and very professional looking. I do not think adding some garish background is going to bring focus on the unit.

I have a similar problem with the factories and similar - they all look pretty similar in the buildpic and I have to squint to work out the differences. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. The turrets are great and everything else looks good enough.

Fang has heard it, and doesnt wanna change it. I dont think you are going to come up with some new compelling argument which will change fangs mind, its been debated at length.
Seriously guys, why dont you tell people making comments like this 'Been said before, its not gonna be changed'? Rather than saying 'No its not!'. 'No its not!' is just an invitation to come up with some kind of evidence to prove you wrong.

Okay, Fang doesnt want to change anything. (LoL, Reminds of rocks: they dont change :D).
Maybe some day someone makes BE&E (Balanced E&E

) and changes some stuff in the unit models and unitpics, just for making the mod better. Then what? Fang shoots his head and hides the body? Nah, he would add the original copyrightwhatsoever messages there and give full credit to Fang, so no problem, no need to kill anyone.

Umm, dude, fangs mod is his mod and he states very clearly that there is not to be any modification of it. Please edit that out of your post.
As far as fang changing it... this is the third set of BPS. you missed your chance several itterations ago. Although, if you did some mock ups I am sure fang would look at them. However, I think the current ones are as good as they get... feel free to do a mock up and prove me wrong
