DUDE, if winamp slows your machine then you have bigger problems then that... wait how could you even play spring?

Well, if you use on-board audio it causes a good processor hit. I doubt it's more of a hit than the sounds in Spring, though.

Monthly Topics are Monthly Topics for a reason - this is the single most important feature that Spring currently lacks (and yes, I'm counting stability). People play through desynchs, don't get too pissed off at them if they don't happen too often, and over two years of development hasn't gotten rid of, or even made a major dent in, them anyway so screw it, why not fix something that you can fix?
For the record, I'm not big on sound in my games. I play with onboard sound and very basic (decent quality) surround sound speakers. In a lot of games, I just leave the sound off if it's a problem. TA's soundtrack, though, contributed enormously to the epic feel of the game, which, when all's said and done, was TA's primary selling point.
I'm sure that there are a great many armchair proggies who can give me all kinds of reasons about why soundtracks aren't technologically feasible, all the while dodging the fact THAT THEY'VE BEEN IN EVERY SINGLE !@@!!@#@ing COMMERCIAL VIDEO GAME RELEASE SINCE PONG!
If making Spring select appropriate songs from a list's too onerous, then just give us the original TA soundtrack for the TA mods, which are the dominant fare for 95% of Spring's playerbase. If you dev types don't have time or interest or inclination to work on Spring, then fine, don't, and thanks anyway for the effort that you put in, but DON'T KEEP BEATING YOUR HEADS AGAINST AN ISSUE OF STABILITY THAT YOU PLAINLY CAN'T READILY FIX WHEN A BY COMPARISON SIMPLE FEAT WOULD ADD SO MUCH MORE TO THE GAMEPLAY. ANYONE WHO PLAYED OTA KNOWS HOW BLOODY GOOD THE SOUNDTRACK IS, AND APPARENTLY MANY OF US ARE WILLING TO LOOK PAST THE ODD CRASH. AAAAAAARRRRGGH!
Ok, I feel better, and rest assured that none of you bastids will read this far into a post that you probably won't even open up because you've seen it before and don't acknowledge the importance of and get offended that you're not "appreciated" (which you're not anyway, however deserving you are, since most of the community has no real idea of who you are, or if you even exist).
Thanks for all the hard work. H8 & Kisses. Tired~

You can control music via the LuaUI interface, or at least you
can in linux (I don't have a windows machine to try it there).

That, and desyncs happen in the majority of games reported which are not 1v1, as far as the numbers show.
