RAR files are ZIP files?

In this case, meaning that they are both types of compression files and treated the same way.

I don't think winrar is free, unless that changed?

winrar has an evaluation period, but that period is indefinate. I've been using the evaluation copy of winrar for years now, its just a small dialog with a help button and a register button that pops up when you start the program.

I'm personally a fan of http://www.tugzip.com because it'll open .zip, .rar, and .7z files as well.

7zip is awesome, it opens zip, rar, tar, tgz, 7z... And its free. And it has a higher compression ratio than a lot of tools that I've seen.

Isn't it shareware just like winrar?

EDIT: Checked the site, it's open source. I must have downloaded something different when I tried it.
