The new version with Argh's texturemap and my newer heightmap has been uploaded. Changes will still have to be made. I tested out XTA briefly and only kbots could walk up and down the sewers; even the commander couldn't. That stuff will be addressed shortly. For now, Download: http://www.fileuniverse.com/?p=showitem&ID=2595

try a height scale of -x 200 -n -100

that should work out quite nicely.

That said, I have a couple of things that I think could be improved- minor stuff, really.

1. What is the format for the detail texture? The default one, with the occasional too-dark spot, really mars the map, imo. Ok, I'm just being my usual control-freak self, but I'll go read the documentation and see if I can't make one that's a bit less aggro. I want people to be able to zoom in and not go, "hey, what are those dark spots?"

2. I have to agree that the sides of the trenches are too steep. However, the depth just about perfect, as the shot shows- deep enough to be "real cover" and blind LOS, but not ridiculous. I'm sure that the trenches can be fixed, though- they're big enough that ramping them on the edges should be possible, without losing the depth. Let me know if you want me to take a whack at the heightmap, hrmph :-)

Lastly... this is probably stupid of me to ask, but... do we not have any choice about water color? I'm asking, 'cuz I have yet to see a map that doesn't have blue water :P This map needs green-brown water, imo. The top-down OTA view looks pretty good, but in the sidelong views, it's really not the right color, and looks weird.

Otherwise... this is fabulous. The sky is perfect, and it feels like an overcast day, with rain about to come. The units with a lot've glowmapping really look sweet :-)

yeah... you can change the water color... you can even use a custom water texture if you want... I tried one with liily pads and it looked like garbage however...

Aha... very cool! I'll crack this open and see if I can't get this tweaked...

Been tweaking with it, and I think I almost have it right... thanks very, very much, folks, for the advice on water, etc.- I've done some gentle tweaks on all of this, getting the shadows to feel right, etc., and I think everybody will like the results.
