Has anyone in this community worked with the source code of phpbb? Maybe it's not to difficult to disable the subroutine that does the censoring on PMs, or to only run it on messages that are not PMs?

Iirc it used the s ame block of code as the post message.

sorry for the confusion. when enabling the word-censor it wasn't clear it would "change" pm's, too. But atm some people ignores warnings / bans / etc. and still try to spam their stuff. It was the only possibility to block this abuse without having much more work on the moderator side.

maybe as note, it doesn't directly change the pm's, it just changes the output of it, if the censored words are removed, the messages will look the same again. when the issues with the abusers are solved, then the word censor will be removed for sure.
