<[DoR]MelKor> I cant play with this bugs, now I reach limit package
<[ACE]Serveur_III> <[T1]Thevenin> Oh, you're getting the packet bandwidth errors?
<[DoR]MelKor> yeah
<[ACE]Serveur_III> <[T1]Thevenin> I hate to edit my SpringRC to fix that.
<[ACE]Serveur_III> <[T1]Thevenin> had*
<[DoR]MelKor> limit package
<[AG]abma> [DoR]MelKor: you've some widget that spams commands...
<[AG]abma> (i guess so)
<[ACE]Serveur_III> <[T1]Thevenin> No, it can happen on a fresh install of Spring.
<[DoR]MelKor> how I can I know that ??
<[ACE]Serveur_III> <[T1]Thevenin> My laptop never gets it, but my desktop does.
<[AG]abma> it can happen, yeah
<[ACE]Serveur_III> <[T1]Thevenin> And they're both fresh installs.
[ARP]hoijui_g5 joined the battle.
<[AG]abma> maybe this is more helpful:

<[ACE]Senna> limit packets reached is gay
<[DoR]MelKor> very gay

I posted previous message to show that people get this limit without bots in a regular games.

i guess you still didn't understand why this limit exists:
the limit is pretty high, you shouldn't reach it in a normal game.
you only reach it if:
- an ai spams to many commands
- a lua widget or gadget spams to many commands
this limit is there, because without it a single player with a malicous/broken widget can take down a multiplayer game. (means, for all players the game just hangs!)
if you reach it, disable user-widgets, some of them spam to many commands. this limit is for your safety, not to abuse you. i'm not sure, if the "balance" between where the commands are dropped and where not can be better adjusted, thats the only point were discussion is maybe needed.
also afaik there is currently no tool, that counts commands that are made by a widget, but imo mostly widgets that send commands to units are the cause...
for the ai: E323 is broken... don't use it in network games, and if you use it locally, increate the Link* values. Better would be, if someone fixes the AI...

post a replay proving it or GTFO.
seriously, you lot want to whine but provide NO evidence.

Anyone else notice the distinct lack of infologs?

distinct lack of any evidence, yes. Fact of the matter is that the OP could win his little argument if he just shows us how easy it is. Honestly.

64 packets per second is plenty.
Is it real limit for now? So within 32 frames I can't assign move command more than 64 units, right? The problem arises because of need of moveing units in an organized flock. Have Spring got functions to handle moveing mass of units? If not then I do not see how E323AI can be fixed. It needs constant repathing due its concept.

You fail at understanding networking. Nevermind how spring works.

Well, I had packet limit reached in a normal game yesterday. Ofcourse i have some non-mod widgets in use but if anyone is interested i can find and upload it.

It would be nicer if the limit was per widget, per AI, instead of shared between everything.
Otherwise there's gonna be greedy widgets eating half the cake by themselves and you'll never know which to blame.

interesting point.
but that just means griefers can do it with a few widgets.

Looked through bunch of replays last night, then i gave up. As I said it might as well have been caused by widgets (nothing fancy btw) i was using. But, the problem exists in multiplayer games. If the proponents of the current hard, low, limit can't believe that you'll indeed have to wait for someone to provide infolog/replay. Just prepare to change something about this system in advance plz.

I'm sorry, that last post didn't look like an infolog.

I'm sorry, made up rules don't apply.
I am not a coder, not a modder, not a contributer in any of the senses that you respect. I am a player. I leech on the work of all of you so
I can have fun. Don't like it? Don't make an open source game. That means you can stick your attitude up yours.
If I encounter it again i'll try to remember this thread and upload infolog or replay. Till then i'm telling you that during normal games the limit can interfere with the ability to play. Don't wanna read it? Fine, but that doesn't change the situation.

You won't ever post an infolog in this thread that isn't a direct result of an AI or a known troublemaking widget.

Then save me the trouble and tell me which widgets are known troublemakers, please.

Why don't you just get us an infolog instead of random speculation? When you crashed with packet stuffs, you obviously were looking at the infolog, yet for some strange reason, you come to a thread talking about it empty handed. Is that weird or what?

The packet limit did not result in a crash. It just showed up a few times and it was like I was lagging out of the game for a short bit. Then I was back in and I had a war to win. After that I forgot about it, till I saw this thread again. Also, due to life I don't have a shitload of time to play or to find the replay it happened in (yes, forum at work.). So that is not weird at all.

Also I see people who complaining about "oh.. I reached packet limit.." during BA games. Even in DSD.
Forboding Angel, what do you expect to see in infolog.txt? You will only see messages like that without stack traces:

P.S. I can't fix AI to not reach these limits - it's too complicated task for me.
