It either is, even was, or will never be.

I like the way you think.

I have tried to solicit general marketing ideas that will work with spring's various games, and the style of play itself.

I have failed.

Thanks! I am surprised these did not come up in my forum search.
The ideas and guidelines there would make good starting points to convert ideas to plans.

zeroK is looking for a trailer video:
http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/123 (and more threads about it in their forum/svn thing)
Also their website is a wiki where everybody can do stuff like add unit descriptions, write a guide or something like that.

If we throw our money together, we could tatoo the springlink on the asses off some hookers, therefore reaching our clients in the moments of biggest luck. ;)

but that haz work invulvad - i dislike this idea. We need a planning comitee to coordinate our planning comitees. This could become the Polit-bureau of Open Sauce.

the best marketing would be, to improve the lobby-server + lobby-clients...

our match-making system sucks, see also http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=26394

we need an easier way for players to play 1v1 games or singleplayer games.
also installing a game isn't easy for newbies. broken opengl drivers are a big problem, too.

imo zero-k + zero-k lobby is on a good way, but the lobby doesn't work on linux/mac.

more simplefication and less mock-ups maybe...
An magic installer we had that one who install all good maps and mods/games in an easy to us installer but it vanished somehow.

Yes you did fail because you didn't want to accept the ideas that are out there or be open to other perspectives.

For the same reason(people wanting to lump all the spring projects in one pile) people thing spring is a game with a bunch of shitty mods if ba.

So no, I reject your assertion Picasso.
But you did your best, smoth!

fan-articles, t-shirts?

at the next release:

try to get a post on slashdot.org + some big news sites.

it seems that we are at the radar of some big news sites, so it shouldn't be to difficult to get a post there. see http://springrts.com/wiki/Press

baaaaad idea, the moment when spring sucks the most is exactly after a major release due to tons of major changes and nobody testing, either get a proper pre-release testing, or advertising best time is between 2 major releases, spaced apart the most possible from either

SS:
if you want to come home and get belligerent with me because I bring up a point that counters your own. Just leave the internet you won't survive here. You want to talk about how no one cares, go reread the threads, we have suggested many ideas on advertising. You can readily continue along that vein or make new actual suggestions.

Have I done my best? at what? ignoring the perspectives of others? no, I brought a counter point up to picasso, he has not rebutted. The prior advertising threads have made many suggestions, several of which I HAVE followed through on. So don't come in here and act like I have ignored the suggestions. Have I done my best at delivering a game I feel is an excellent game in the spring engine? yes. Have I done my best at trying to meet some of the earlier suggestions about advertising? where I can, yes and I still do.

Many of us content developers, the ones who use the engine are in various stages of our own advertising based on what has been suggested or by our own personal tactics. You are not interested in that, you want posts that support your own agenda or idea and rage at us for anything otherwise posting stuff like "screw you guys I am going home" and saying we are not the "keener, more perspicacious crowd." you wanted. That's nice, I can call people names to but I am not here.

So take a deep breath, let some of that hot air out so you calm down and realized that I have MORE at stake here than you. Realize that I have been for years here, encouraging the engine's outward image. I am bringing up points not because I am trying to destroy efforts but because I genuinely care and have a vested interest in the success of spring.

back to the topic:
[*]People inherently reduce the perceived value of something that is free.
Scanning those topics I noticed this and I'm not sure its true anymore. "free" doesn't have the same stigma it used to (just look at LoL vs HoN and all the "free2play" games these days). Perhaps there is opportunity here that didn't exist before?

ok, here's my awesome marketing plan.

**********************************
BADSD :: hardcore multiplayer online battle arena! Control massive armies of nanoengineered robots from the tiny flea to the skyscraper sized KROGOTH!

TECHER: protected by your teammates you must develop the ultimate weapons to destroy the enemy from afar: heavy bombers, nuke launchers, lumbering robot behemoths and multi-barrelled plasma cannons raining destruction!

PUSHER: on the front lines, take ground, and build defences and draw the lines of battle. No fear: charge in with your commander and destroy anything instantly with his deadly D-GUN!

SUPPORT: probe weakness in the enemy battle lines. Can you reach the enemy techers before they finish their WMDs?

free2play! download it now:

Good luck at creating awesome Spring RTS reputation we really need those awesome reputation which is fullfilet with spambots.

Also i think Spring need fancier graphics or atleast something a bit more to offer what other RTS canno't. Maybe they will listen to it finaly
