That nukes are the only thing keeping humanity away from a fall back into self-destructive behaviour pattern, like they still go around in africa.

It's ok to advance science through the killings of enemies soldiers, or even through the airborne killings of civilians in foreign cities.

But it is not ok to advance science through the torture of inmate in concentration camp.

Im just saying its not the case that research or innovation were hurt because of a stupid ideology.

And in those tests they found out how quickly you freeze to death and thats is not that ground breaking.
Mostly this was just a very sadistic game and not real research.

If they had found out something really important I would understand that discussion.

The end justify the means, so if the means in the end get justified, does this draw the conclusions, we need more nazi-experiments? Would the non-german personal please line-up for some final tests? We always wondered, could you fire a person, with a giant cannon into the sun?

I wasn't going to quote anyone or anything like that. I just wanted to use some of the information found in the articles and check that information, but this is still a good discussion thread in my opinion.

AFAIK they were interested in means to save people who were taken out of icy water (pilots shot down over the ocean, sunk warship crews, etc.). They killed quite a number of prisoners for this research (who either froze to death or didn't survive "warming" attempts), but in the end they came up with a method which is still used today with relatively good results (as far as I know it involves putting a person in less cold water and slowly rising its temperature until it becomes the normal body temperature. If temp rise is too fast, person dies, so it took some tries and a number of deaths to find the right rate).
This is useful knowledge which can save lives, ignoring it won't revive all those prisoners.

Seems like a question that can be answered without actually putting people in danger.

Using prisoners for low temperature experiments has no sciencetific value if the persons are already malnourished etc.

Actually the only usefull result coming out of kz experiments seems to be "Sango Stop", a substance that stops bleeding. Found no good english links on it but you can guess how it was tested.
And they trained doctors and other personell on treating wounds or operations. That means take a healthy human, shot or otherwise wound him and then see what you can do. Possible some routines from that made it into modern medic but i doubt it.
