Definitely does not need totally strange ideas. Something more "conservative" would be nice too. A game where a factory does not offer a mishmash of 10 different units and builders dont make 5 different types of turrets. And then you build the same stuff again with T2 units.
But ololol in this mod T2 does not replace T1 but both are useable throughout the whole game!1111 Yeah, so what
It not only easier for new players but even good/long time players get bored seeing that system repeated over and over.
If you look closely you see that "TA-thinking" in most spring games.
Most games combine: A protoss photon cannon detects cloaked units, shoots air and shoots ground.
Spring: You have a seperate radar thing, 2 kind of AA turrets and 3 ground turrets and the same for T2 too and on the sea as well.
(not only *a games but grts, e&e or ct too!)
Gota:
no popular RTS game has needed that kind of stuff, no game even has it. Imo spring is a multiplayer game and other games have shown that multiplayer-only can work ie Counterstrike or Subspace.

Of course any game needs players but good point. I think it already is like that a bit: I cant think of any good player who just plays but is not at least involved in balanceing talk about the game he plays.

yeah i agree, but having a message like that broadcasting to severall independant coding sites, and in computacional programming forums, would be a good way to start.

Agreed, lolzy statement is lolzy
Look guys if you want to properly advertise spring as a whole you're going to have to banish *A first for any place that matters to take you seriously. That's just the way it is.

There are quite a few around. Most of them are working on their own projects. KDR11k for example, smoth, the list goes on and on. No one with the skill set wants to do it because, frankly, it's a waste of time.

I definately would like to see a mod that has this less is more philosophy.
Something completely different.

Unless you're a game dev, spring doesn't do anything that someone in the commercial world has already done better. It's hard to steal SupComm fans with a game that doesn't look good, and it's hard to steal StarCraft fans with a game with zero competitive support structures.

Now that I think about it, I see why other games lack 8v8 multiplayer support...

More like cause they already predicted how much fail 8v8 would be, and we just went right ahead with it and started a new era of newbiness

I don't think they predicted the difficulty of having a good game at that side, there were once pragmatic reasons for avoiding battles of that size and these have since become standards.

Not really going to encourage someone to start playing spring when the majority of 1v1 pros have played for well over 2000hours. It would take a beginner like 4 years to even near tournament winning skill.
I dont think anybody gets games based on the tournament payouts.
