i like having a million things to do :)
we're actually pretty close to a plateau with evo in terms of modelling requirements. i've got a ton of maps on the go, a little zombie project for s44, unit sets for *A mods or whoever wants them.
anyways if any more "TA remodels" do happen i would be willing to bet that it's going to come from annoyed and disillusioned people such as those posting in this thread. there simply is no interest or effort from anyone else.
edit:
My t2 is halted for the moment, Im waiting on my graphics tablet to arrive.
lab claims bro!

I'm here on and off, but I'm not prepared to put any more work into something that isn't going to be played because of a name (being Balanced Annihilation and it's copyright omgwtfetcetcteamoffanboys).

I don't understand.
TFC won't change models to newer ones if one sent them to him?
Does it have to come in a new mod?

because the idea of downloading the same mod but with a different name fills you with anxiety

Because half-old half-new models looks lopsided and unmatching. There are a lot of great models out there but they simply don't jive with the OTA models very well and mixing them looks bad, simply put.
Although I seem to recall him saying at one point that he would add new models if they were giving in lab sets (i.e. all t1 core kbots plus the factory, like behe's work) but that could be my imagination. I do think that would be a good start, though. New models without too much awkward mixing.

I would have some sympathy for the "coherance" argument if the BA models didnt all look like ass already. The original TA unit set was a crazily designed hotch-potch of mismatching units, and BA very obviously continues this tradition.
Meh, it's just another way the "we fear change" mentality has hampered the progress of BA over the years.

Not "we fear change" so much as "nobody is both willing to implement change". TFC is an excellent steward for BA, but he's a maintainer and not really interested in doing major development on it. I mean, has anybody actually released a "BA with new models" mod?

I agree with this. I was talking to a guy recently who had been away for a couple years and was relieved to see that BA was relatively unchanged, surrounded by things like NOTA/CA that have changed so drastically (arguably for the worse). TFC gets tons of pressure from people in the community put in knee-jerk changes on balance issues, or constantly add a mish-mash of unmatching models/effects, but honestly I'm glad he hasn't. BA is stable and shouldn't change drastically at this point except for minor tweaking. Any big balance changes or a big push towards a new look should be on a fork, not official BA.
Keep stickin to your guns, TFC.

well there are a lot more than actualy it apears to be, you just got to have faith they finish something in time
ex: secret projects

@Hobo Joe
You misunderstand. I didn't mean enlightened restraint on the part of BA community.
I meant laziness. Obviously BA gameplay is complete and no major gameplay changes should be made... but the only development is minor bugfixes by TFC. Nobody is sitting down and trying to fix the naval transports. Nobody has apparently compiled all the free replacement content into a BA-workalike-with-new-models mod.
Oh, and CA is better, not worse.

behe happened
Lets make a simple calculation: In one year he will be bored by his well working normal-map tool and start writing a tool that will remodell the Tanks by adding polygon based upon the bumpmaps.

Ah well, in my case, ive been modelling a lot this year, but nothing really seams release worthy you know, its like why should i post my epic tank model, but with only a AO bake.
There isnt that will to release stuff, specialy unfinished, ofc there is modelbase but still meh, even if someone release his/her models, it wouldnt be grabed to a new TA derivative style mod.
There must be a base project first by a good leader, then you can have that model iniciative.
But rest assured, there are a ton of modelers in spring, most are isolated and model just for the sake of fun.
It needs a base project to gather people around.
like come post your ideas, e.t.c... problem is when someone trys to do it its like blah BA derivative, we just want BA with new grafics e.t.c..
there isnt that free will, to mess gameplay with grafics, adjust/improve, and new projects dont get mutch atention either.
the interest is short lived you know.
i think a sound person could solve that and bring that sence of unity xD

I gave up, lost interest in the RTS thingy.. and its hard to keep making stuff for a game when its not inspiring you as much anymore.
That.. and I freaking hate texturing.. its my #1 bottleneck.

+1
It was worth it, I enjoyed what I did here but I just moved on something else
Scifi RTS had never really been what I enjoyed the most even if BA is fun to play (on other mods too

)
Smoth I'm glade you found what you really wanted to do, but I guess it's not the case of everyone here. There is no need to blame us for moving on to something else even if we/I promised things we/I'll certainly never do :)
It's a part of the deal of being a free project and having to rely on generous contributors
Gota > because if you want your unit to be used in a game/mod, it has to be textured and scripted. Few people will agree on doing scripts for you but no one will agree to texture your model. Releasing a model untextured is useless.
