Cool model but the weapon looks a bit too big maybe?

that's what it was based on

anyway I don't want to hijack the thread so if you do anything with it make a new one unless Hobo Joe is fine with it

oh yeah, keep in mind I made it back in late 2007 thus the UV and geometry may not be as efficient

Does it insult your manliness?

Its pretty much the same size as the ota one, no?

I meant the rattle samson, not the hobo samson, its pretty clearly bigger weapon than the original to me.

Fine by me. Weapon definitely looks bigger though, unless the truck is a lot smaller. Is a nice sexy model though. :-)

And SpikedHelmet - I wasn't trying to make a very different model. Like I said in the OP, just adding detail to the original. Wish I had some time to work on it but I'm super busy and probably won't be able to texture it for a while.

it's because it's not based on the OTA samson at all

topdown view kinda matches arne's topdown

I know, but you've also got to realize that the OTA models are shit by any standards, made extremely blocky to be recognizable on the 200x300 resolution (or w/e) they were designed for, no amount of greebles or extra detail is going to stop them looking pretty retarded. Which is why I really like D's remakes because he stays true to the original but "re-imagines" them to look much more believable and cool-looking.

Also, rattle, that is some hot shit. Needs to be half-track though, because halftracks are awesome.

I dunno, I partially agree but partially not. You're definitely right about the blocky aspect of a lot of the models, but at the same time most of them ARE meant to be pretty blocky, I think. Mr. D makes some amazing remodels that stay pretty true to the original, but I think even some of his add a little too many curves. :p

Maybe I'm just stuck in the past, idk. But if you look at the cinematic versions of the OTA models for example, most of them are very similar, not because they're low-poly, but that's just the design.

Still, if I make more models I'll probably make some heavier edits than I did in this one, like I said, I'm mainly using this one as a learning process, I have basically nill experience with unwrapping and texturing a non-organic model, and it's VERY different from all the work I've done before in those areas, so I wanted something simple to get a feel for it, not to mention all the Spring-specific aspects. It's likely I'll just end up redoing this one again once I get the current version finished.

But thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it.
