rattle: To use the included music app, and to use contacts, pictures and videos as intended, you need itunes. No way around it. However, if you have a jailbroken ipod touch/iphone, then you can get apps that will access folder's accessable via SSH or other methods, such as dTunes and VLC for iphone (its not official i think). But really, the only practical way is to use iTunes.
