whats the point of buying 1920x1080 instead of 1920x1200 for a computer screen? as a TV its understandable, but for computer use theres no reason why you should buy less pixels in y-axis...

tbh edge scroll was the most annoying feature in spring until i disabled it. always it started to move when i didnt want to etc, so annoying...
use mousewheel to zoom out/in for moving in the map, best way IMO.

1920x1080 on a 37" LCD TV > 1920x1080 on a computer screen

Its good for films and things, people don't just use there computers for games, and anyone whose that arsed about an extra few pixels at the side will go and buy a second monitor or a bigger one. Its just easier in the long run to use a standard screen ratio and resolution.

I also have a 1680x1050 21" lcd

Yeesh.... no clear majority yet. I was hoping most people would have a 16:10 by now but I guess the alternatives are a lot less expensive.

I guess doing load screens with stuff that can't be scaled is out of the question if I want this to look decent. I'll have to just use text, as usual.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I just bought one.

Until recently I jumped between 1680 x 1050 full on my desktop and 1280 x 768 full on my laptop and 1024 x 600 full on my EEE. Now I run 1920 x 1080 full on my desktop.

Considerably cheaper, easier to find, and generally more reliable since the segment of the market is more competitive internally. Not to mention all of these people who get them for the extra television ports.

Caydr, down in Australia, the complete opposite. Its almost impossible to find a 1920x1200 at a decent price, most of the monitors are now 1920x1080.. Which for me is bad (I want the extra 120 pixels of vertical space for documents, photos etc).

For example, most of the cheap 24" (really 23.6") TN-film screens are 1080 high, and are around $300. To get the 1200 high screens, often with very similar panels (TN-film) costs about $100 or more, for no noticable increase in quality either. Grr Grr.
