Depending on how much he charged, and based upon whether glass could be placed over it, and if it were painted... I would be interested in buying a riverglade cutout. However, the purpose would be using it as a coffeetable, so it would need to be fairly large.

Does he have a pricelist anywhere? I didn't find one.

Use photoshop to open it. You have to know the map width in order to do this though. To get the heightmap width in pixels, press I in spring, to get the spring size. Multiply spring size by 64 and add 1 to get heightmap pixel width.
So, for example, tabula is 1025*1025 heighmap pixel size.
Also, SME raws are 1 channel, 16 bit non interlaced IBM byte order raws with a header size of 0.

SME heightmap exporting is better than the widget, because the widget can only do 8 bit bmp, while SME gets the full 16 bits. The added precision makes a big difference.

I appreciate all the help, i have Photoshop Express 6 and after entering all the settings, it gives me a error saying that the file is larger than the image, or vise versa.....

Never the less, My Prices are dependent on the size wanted, Material, Painted (yes or no).

A non painted 2' by 4' carved table would typically be around $350 - $400. (Thats a rough calculation used for figuring proximate costs of jobs at $1.95 per square inch, so 24 x 48 x 1.95, you do the math. I'll have a much better idea after i finish my MoonQ20 Coffee Table w/ Glass top. I am thinking iw ill find it allot less complicated than i am initially thinking. And this might be my small way of promoting the Game. More players the better right?

Beherith, Mind sending me the DSD you want (there are a few versions, DSDry, DSDuo) the 16 bit extraction, saved as a JPEG if possible? I'd just like to see the resolution difference.

But about the price thing, lemme finish my MoonQ20 map first, and i will have a better idea. I am leaving on a business trip in a few hours (Hello St. Louis) and will be back friday evening. I will probably be doign renderings over the week.

Use HeightMapTweak to export the RAW files to BMP. Or open the map with SpringMapEdit, then click Map-->Save-->Save Heightmap (8-bit). You will need to add the file extension .bmp manually, but it's a BMP bitmap.

IIRC jpeg doesnt support 16 bit depth.
But the 16 bit raw info i told above still stands, but in order to get photoshop to load it, you need to know the spring map dimensions, in the case of tabula, its 16*16, in case of Deltasiegedry its 20*10. That would mean raw image (of the heightmap) dimensions of 1025*1025 and 1281*641, respectively. You need to enter these dimensions into photoshop on loading, and make sure to set 1 channel, no interleaving, 16 bits/channel, ibm byte order, and a header size of 0.

On the note of wether 16 bit is worth it. Lets say you would like to use a total mill depth of 10 cm. 8 bits is 256 levels of height, so you would get 0.4mm resolution on the output product.
This is rarely an issue, only on very shallow slopes where a banding effect might become visible. 16 bits resolution solves this issue.

on the painting thing: You could try to replace the head of the cnc machine with one of those inkjet catridges that have the heads built in, and drive it through some custom software.

the nice thing about doing 8bit in real life is that you can apply your own -l via sandpaper

MoonQ20. It isn't painted, but i hope to sand it a bit, and get some grey paint on it. However, part of me thinks these might look better out of a hardwood, with some grain.
