When there is a small skirt model that is around i will criticise the big skirt model all i like because it looks lame

Spring needs cell shading, then they'd be so perfect.

Mr. D, the model is in no way textured like a cartoon character. You have a 60ft+ giant robot painted battleship grey, it will have solid looking colors. Not cartoonish, at that sizes, you would have a largely solid colored unit.

Needs more panels!

yeah, pointless panels and greebles are realistic. Especially ones visible on a giant robot.

I don't mean any disrespect, but I thought Gundam was a cartoon series Smoth?

Yeah, I was also struck by the 'cartoony' nature of the texturing. I didn't think it distracted from the texture at all, and assumed it was entirely intentional.
Obviously you have brought in further realism to the textures, as you will need to when going from 2D to 3D. I think it looks great; but still influenced by a cartoon approach.

That's a unit that should not get remade, lol. Storm would come out of hiding and beat us senseless.

it is based on a cartoon series but realism IS NOT THIS:
it is this:
By the same token cartoony is flatshadded with no detail. No panel lines, which the model has them and most impotantly the texture and mode wiould have no noise:
The old style I was using was cartoony, but I have since abandoned it:
Cartoonish style

New more realistic treatment
realism is not rust and exposed metal everywhere, if the ms had exposed metal all over then the machine is not properly maintained. If the thing is all rusty it is not properly maintained. The guy may have some staining on it's paint, it may have some shiny surfaces. but by and large it would be a drab color with little sheen as that would draw more attention to the already obvious giant figure.
Any smaller panels or greebles would require a 2048 or 1024 texture something I am not doing as this is not a FPS.

To everyone else:
The man knows exactly what and how he wants to do things. He has a solid sense of what looks like what, and how to put it in game. Lets face it, Gundam is one of the most complete "original content" projects on the Spring Engine, and while I'm not a fan of the Gundam series (hence why i don't play it) I truly respect the work he is doing.
And you can't get down on the man for not adding detail "A" to a character or model that never had such a detail to begin with. He's trying to faithfully recreate a series in RTS form which has never really had any justice done to it by the mainstream game developers. Hopefully someday Gundam fans everywhere will celebrate the work he has put into this. (And trust me, Gundam fans would come charging like an angry mob demanding his head on a Pike if he had added non-existent details to mecha/characters that shouldn't have them.)

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! I thought you died or something. Alpha azieru is CCa which is 14 years after the OYW AND it can only operate in space.
