ah with an 8600GT+AthlonX2-4200(ish,OC) everything is smooth apart from dynamic water.. i guess a 7600 would be faster for Spring, but my 7600 is in a slower computer :p
smoth should try piracy, you don't get any of that sh*t with a corp version of XP-SP2. (even if it keeps trying to install WGA).
i'm not playing BA, i'm playing CA, much more exciting (one further in the alphabet's what does it)

mm my other computer (this one has a 8800GTS) with a 7600GT runs dynamic water, albeit a bit laggy (~20 fps)

Terrible luck...man...just terrible...
I have to say I haven't heard about it till now. That's crazy...
smoth wrote:You guys are all playing BA so no big loss but to those who wanted to see the cool stuff I was doing... I am sorry you will have to wait longer, I have done EVERYTHING in my power to get back to work.
Some of us play BA just cause there's nothing else right now worthy of our time wasting.
I for one am excited to see your projects when they're completed, so I can switch it up a little.

Ah but smoth, this is a corporate key that will not need any stupid phone calls to activate. So you burn yourself a new CD and save your money.

Burn a copy from what? Also, no I am not pirating anything.

You would call that piracy when you legally own a copy of XP? whatever...
Posted: 03 Dec 2007, 08:35
by smoth
yes because I purchased the xp pro that is not corporate edition.

I believe the only differences in corporate are with the activation. It has the exact same feature set, and is just a relabeled professional edition.

probably a different key also.
anyway, in my eyes it would be piracy.

Dynamic water does not run properly on a 6800 Ultra, which I used to have. It develops a nasty flicker as the game wears on.

4. call/ mail microsoft with problem, yada yada yada, give key, get new cd.
5. profit.
seems the least piratic(├é┬®) way.

I just got a 7600Gt. Dynamic water is beautiful. I love watching the waves flow over an underwater building. Then my commander decides to take a dive and explore the depths below, I imagine that's me at the beach and I can hear the ocean sounds...
Then I want to actually play the game with decent FPS so I have to turn it off.

Corporate edition isnt the only edition available via torrent.
Torrenting a copy of XP Pro and burning it then using your own legal CD key should be perfectly legal because legally it's classed as a backup not a new product in itself. It's when you install a second copy on another computer and use them both without buying a second suer licence that it all goes awry.
I would also download a copy of ubuntu gutsy gibbon while your at it because then you have a nice non windows rescue disk you can use to probe your PCs innards and fix thing with, while your gluing your windows CD back together.
well

I use Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon on my Dell XPS 400.
3.0 ghz Pentium D Dual Core
1gb ram
MSI NX8600GT-TD512EZ
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Dual Core GPU, realtime overclocking, 512mb vram, and fanless design.
Spring runs, period.
Sauerbraten pwns.
Warsow also pwns.
3d Chess Runs.
Firefox, Youtube, all that crap, runs fast.
Desktop Effects do not run at all.
Spring needs more support for my nice crap.
