Hello? Are we in the same interwebs?
It IS an issue when a ladder firmed by some of the very best players openly states it in its rules!
the players do not have a issue with it, you wouldnt either if you'd actually know what you are talking about instead of trying to find some way to flame.

I'm not trying to flame. I'm trying to find an acceptable reason for an artificial rule.
If this ladder was called "10 min airdrop ban 1v1 ladder" I wouldn't have a problem.

i dont care if you have a problem.
boycott this ladder, make your own mutator and ladder for it, play det's emp annihilation.
people who like ba and ta have no problem with this.

What is your suggestion to stop com dropping in bases straight off? 10 minute build time for atlas?
The reason rules are needed is to stop people just getting a lame 2 minute win. It is a rule that encourages better games that dont end after two minutes. The reason that rules like this arent needed in non ladder games is that the offenders would find themselves no one to play with very quickly.
The ladder would survive without this rule, the mod CAN handle it by placing a missile tower into your build queue, just like you would an LLT, making such a tactic as to drop your commander useless. So there is no problem with BA, this rule will just simply stop a lot of arguements and hopefully result in a better quality of game.

Artificial rules, by their very existence state that there is a problem with the game in the way its being played. But in this case the way it is being played is the way it was designed to be played.
The no dgunning other coms rule is at least objective enough that there is almost no margin for confusion about the rule.
The 10minute atlas rule does have a very major problem in that it is completely subjective where the start location of a player is. Is it the 1x1cm square their commander started in? Where is the line drawn?
I don't mind the rules existing, but to deny that they admit a problem with the mod is childish.

why is the rule 10 minutes? making it a 3 minute rule would be fine.
Why shouldn't I be able to air drop @ 7 or 8 minutes? he's had 7/8 minutes to build ONE piece of aa in his base, while i have just spent probably 1k in metal and a lot of time building an air factory.
In a fast start you can have your factory up in ~ 1 minute, in a slow start ~ 2 minutes. You then have ~ 1-2 minutes to figure out what factory they have.
If you havn't scouted their base and they havn't scouted yours and you've not built a single piece of aa just incase they are air, you deserve to lose tbh. At 3 minutes a small banshee rush can be taking out your factory, so the fact you dont have aa yet is your fault..

Just make a mutator that moves the L1 transport into L2 build-menus for, say, the combat-engineers or something. There, no transport-rush. Solved.

-No atlas dropping your commander into the enemys start position in the first 10 minutes.
So i can Walk the commander to the enemy base then?

What about dropping commander near enemy start position, and walking the rest of the way? A bit like parking a car near a shop and walking to it..
This is why artificial rules suck.

I'd assume so....I once got told I "lost" a game i was playing because I LLT creeped into the enemys base with my com about 7 minutes into the game.
It's cheating apparently

Well, that's more or less my point. If the mod CAN handle it, WHY ban it?
IOW, it's not a lame win. It's a lame loss.

<I tend to ignore sleska out of principle because he generally is a bitch.>
To answer the other people:
This isn't real life where you have to construct artificial rules to ensure fair game play. If I'm playing football, then yes, punching and such is not fair. But the whole point of a computer game is that you construct your own universe. Within that universe, everything should be legal.
Imposing artificial rules on an artificial universe is just stupid. Rewrite the rules of the universe then (change mod/w/e) etc!

Shouldn't you guys celebrate a cool new ladder system with wicked lobby integration instead of fighting over one silly rule?
