Tanks should be able to crush other light units too, like (light) AT guns and probably trucks.
squishing troops with takes makes no sense at all...
If I was a troop and a tank tried to squish me, I'd soo Indiana Jones that effin tank and be throwin grenades in all the holes!!!

IN THE OPEN lathan.. which means the tanks are probably driving full speed at the target

Tanks squishing infantry is not going to happen. In real life a guy would easily be able to outmanuver a tank trying to run him down on even mildly rough ground.
Besides, one of the greatest weaknesses of tanks we're trying to model is their close-range weakness to infantry. if they can simply slaughter infantry by driving near them, that design element is pretty much destroyed.

And tanks aren't as indestructible as you may think. They would be ruined after being used to run over other vehicles and crap.

I was referring to crushing light things. Surely a Tiger won't be damaged that much after running over some jeeps? Or squishing a 45mm AT gun?.
Crushing AT guns was quite common practice (at least with Soviet tank crews), you just had to do this from the proper direction, trying to crush a gun from the front often results in tank getting stuck like this:

LOL
Maginot Line == EPIC PHAIL
Trenches are too much micro... unless you can "build" them, i guess, semi-automatically...
What if certain units dug a trench whenever they were set to patrol a certain area?

The only way I can see this implemented reasonably is if you managed to get a fox hole working, either as a stance for general infantry (on/off, whatever), or as a buildable defensive line (say, a fox hole with two guys sitting in it, etc). Either way, I don't really think it would be condusive to gameplay. The prone stuff is more then enough; you want to make sure things don't turn into WWII-style trench lines fighting around a nomans land.

Zsinj is correct. Until we can drastically alter unit behaviour, and make infantry someone driven to find and use foxholes, they're really more of a bother and serve onlyt as anti-tank ditches...
Anyway, moar features.

This is amazing! You bring up a totally new aspect of the engine! Now only if engine developers would put as much effort in developing it it as the mod developers are doing for their mods... Spring would be on a whole different level!

Heh, Kuqa...the two 'effort' gauges are incomparable. We *might* be able to say something like that in a few years when we've exhausted the possibilities of all the LUA stuff and recent features, but until then...engine dev has been *way* outpacing mod dev for a long while now.
That said, I'm glad you like the screens.

I see the numbers on sd.kfz.250 are mirrored. They are supposed to be 222, right?

well with my last comment i did not want to point out how bad the spring engine is, i wanted to point out how great this mod seems to be!
Anyway, lets face it: this mod has some really nice artwork and models and textures. They are totally compareable to something like supreme commander. Maybe not technically, but artistically.
But then again, the spring engine is by many parts so outdated that many have wondered is it worth to continue developing something like this.. And hence the CE project did start.
Conclusion: The modmakers (of this mod) are utilizing what the engine is capable of delivering. The engine just does not deliver what other commercial rts engines do.
But lets say it again: i think spring is the best free rts engine out there, nothing else even comes close. Open source projects just never will technically compete with commercial projects.

What do you mean "not technically"?

What exactly are you talking about? What is the supcom engine better at then the spring engine?
