The problem is that there simply aren't enough players to maintain that many mods, particularly considering the investment of time it takes to learn a mod. EE is by far the best thing available for Spring right now, but it doesn't get attention because it can't build up the critical mass of a player base needed.

One day in the Month forced to play something else can`t kill everybody... and as it is free software, and nobody of them has paid for this anyway beside the Devs & contributors.. let the Fanboizy whine... and for that one day the other Mods shine...

Mine is in a crossroad.
Im at same time are finishing the last "TA" related mod, an epic one, and Im already starting to learn and essay UV mapping texes, concepts,unit shapes and models for the BattleFleet new four race versions.
In some years I think I will finish it, but..Its fun

GMN is taking a break from modding due to computer instability issues and school intensifying.
If epic legions ever gets finished it will be...epic

Okay I have to post this before my mind dies... My mind is in the thinking process.. Theres 2 parts, 1 the spammy battle. 2 the extremely spy like black-ops intelligence part.
There is 1 race in comprehension so far. Basically what makes this 'mod' different is that the units are 'tiny' and there is an 'Intelligence Tier'. At t2 you have the option to make an Intelligence factory, an extremely costly factory with nothing cheap. The units it produces are horrible if just used out of hte box, but with proper tactics and strategy you may be able to take down some of the most largest powerful armies and only half the cost :D.
Considering the 'military' aspect of the game is kind of not that original. Its kind of like supcom, things are tiny spammable. But bombers are SLOWWWW and have heavy armor. FIghters can die easily but can bring down bombers quickly, you have battering rams which can only attack buildings. Your assault units at first are weak against units, but your t3 Assault bot is simply just a leviathan on the ground. Ship combat is more frequent, becuase its cheap. There are corvettes, several frigates, cruisers, destroyers and battle cruiers and Capital Mother Ships. Units are CHEAP. Engineers can 'easily' convert units.
The intelligence tier. Units : The ITE. Intelligence Tier Engineer. When assigned to a radar or radar jammer it becomes more effiecent at the job. It can build powerful radars and radar jammers. These guys can convert units in a snap! These guys can detect and explode mines
The Explosives Unit. Can build several types of mines. T2 Land Mine, Havoc Mine ( Mini nuke mine ) AA mine. So when you think your smart by sending your air over an 'undefended' mountain, all of a sudden dozens of mines jump up onto your aircraft and EXPLODE. They can build bombs onto your units, so if you have an expensive land unit and if it gets captured or dies it goes BOOM. Or you can use your ITE and convert your enemies explosive fusion gen and plant that explosive onto it. :D
Theres a 25% chance if a single ITE trys to disarm an explosive that it will trigger the explosive. So use more than 1.
Spy Planes. A good LOD and radar, and they can drop anti radar devices unto the battlefield. They blink red and loose 1 hp every second. THey have 30 hp.
The Telescope Unit. A large straight line LOD.
Sniper. Snipes.
Electrosignal Jammer Truck. An expensive but hilarious unit. When used on lets say a defence tower owned by an enemy, at the cost of abit of resources and as long as the the tower is in LOD it will send singals and the tower will fire on its friendlies. Or it can shoot out radar fakes, causing dozens of fake blimps causing defence system to shoot at it. It can shoot EMP's that will cause ALL units within the area where the emp is shot to die down for several seconds. Or it can use an EMP burst, causing every unit around the truck but itself to down for several seconds. Each of these things have to be 'built'.
EMP-Bot. Basically stuns a unit indefinatly until the EMP bot goes to another target. Can also be used to shoot Electrical bursts to stop nearby EMP effects ( all nearby emp effects ).
Generator Bot. Can generate either a sheild, a stealth field, or an anti EMP field.
Basically in my mind there are thousands of bots going at it while a bunch of black-ops missions go on about and huge explosions everywhere o_O.

Muzic, do you have any idea of how you're actually going to code that, or is just all thought & dream? Because mines that jump and latch to units or straight line LOS telescope will require quite some work, if it is even possible.
