Thanks but based on my history I am not interessed in administrating, like fixing the nonsense zombie spam that others cause. Especially not when told that this spam is not spam but actually highly productive content.
Two years ago I just wanted to see my handful of videos published, as well as videos of some others..
Not so important but still: I think it is not quite right that I (or any other "editor") can seemingly see email of anyone else or edit anything someone else published. Or at least the concept of every random user having these rights seems questionable.

It isn't spam, it's news, all from 1 source albeit, but then if nothing else is happening, that can be discovered and pulled in...

Stuff doesn't happen in a nice curated and pleasant order here, it comes in when it comes in and you can't expect CNBC level quality from something that's completely automated.

The best way to address this is more feeds and more activity, those evo posts have yet to be pushed off the top by new things arriving. A year ago springfiles would've pushed it off the top, but springfiles was too noisy and v.low quality so it was cut

As I said above - they were pushed off by more recent events and some unknown thing caused them to reappear at the top.

Shadow furys ZK tournament playlist and his matches playlist have been added.

The missing timeplot thing is a cloudflare issue. Probably caused by the cripplingly slow host

Automation has been upgraded to v3.1, I can now do things like add prefixes and suffixes to titles, update posts, run on demand, etc Things should also be slightly more reliable, though what was fixed, I forget

As a sidenote I need to go through and resave all feeds with the correct status, this may take a day or two. The recently added ZK feeds have been done so far

I have been saying excactly this since years but am always told that it is just the most active feed and others should just post more

Those evo posts had already been pushed off, they were 6-12 months old.

Adding the tournament playlist is not good because each tourney consists of some dozen matches and they also just flood the frontpage. They do not even fit all at once.
Per tourney it is enough if there is ONE news post. Or maybe TWO posts: annoucement and results.
That is already happening. For zK tourneys there is always a news-thread thing. If one clicks into that, one usually gets all info and videos.
So remove the tourney-playlist again because zK tourneys are already in news.
There is no need to have each video indivually.

Those all should be one post and not like 15.

I didn't write the springrts.com bit that pulled in posts, or I'd have done something more suitable. Eitherway pulling them in all at once was a symptom of the old automation. That automation has been replaced, so save yourself time criticising out of date code no longer in use.

The current springrts.com pulls in the most recently updated posts on springinfo.info, and so you're seeing them that way. There's no attempt to balance them out or curate them in any way. If there was there'd be a separation of new videos, new images, new releases, and the rest. But at the moment none of the categorisation employed at springinfo is in use. Clearly having a basic list is not fit for purpose, and unless it's manually maintained, will never please

But if I did change the spring frontpage code that pulled it in to pull several feeds showing different things, and display them differently, what would people want?

I'm thinking:

- the 2 newest posts with associated image background
- 2 latest announcements
- 2 latest videos

In a full width area, sort of Verge style. I'd experiment initially by putting it at the top of the springinfo.info homepage before adjusting it to fit the spring frontpage. Thoughts?

It has nothing to do that with old videos being "pulled in all at once." For each tourney several dozen videos will get uploaded on same day, it will look the same again in a month.

No, the current simple site does already not work very good and lacks maintaince, with more complexity like image backgrounds it will become worse. Better finish one thing (like adding all the feeds, allow people to log in in ways that does not require back&forth with private messages to create accounts) instead of starting something new.
For example the current issue with the tourney-video-flood does not require anything new, the basic list is perfectly fine. You just have to remove Shadowfurry's youtube feed again. zero-K tourneys are already covered by zeroK news, ironically they would now be drowned out by the same videos that it is about.

That's because all news is treated equally, clearly not all news is equal

That's fine if it works. I mean, that's how newspapers do it, they highlight some important posts. But if this has to be automated it will fail, unless maybe those who post news can do a bit of self-moderation. I mean, have a checkbox like [ ] important news, and then if someone post something non-essential there three times they lose their account or something.

The other issue is that while the posts are chronological technically, the date employed is the one when the news was pulled, and not when it was created. For example ZK tourneys are all of august 23rd, but they are sorted according to september 10th. Could there be a field that handles "date created" instead of "date added"?

There is code that attempts to use the date in the RSS feed. I believe in v2 it was broken. Youtube is also a special case and doesn't behave quite as others do. I already discard the content youtube passes and reprocess it into a more palatable format ( though even this leaves much to be desired )

Please remove Shadowfurry's feed, the posts that zero-K people are doing already covers it.

I don't think it's possible to automate all the news processing, unless people cooperate. Like the old adage that with great freedom comes great responsibility.

Since we sadly don't seem to be able to get a sane automated snapshot of something "alive" on the front page of Spring this way, we could consider alternatives e.g. could replace it with a simple "X unique players online in last 24 hours, Y players online in last 7 days, Z minutes total ingame over last 7 days" box and one permalink to some content page/feed/SpringInfo page for each game that wants/maintains it. Probably others have better ideas...
