I see none of my sky in that water.

Can a foam effect be added to it?
When units climb out of the water, like amphibs would be cool if the places the unit touches the water line when it comes out until its fully out give out a small foam.

That's a mod request, Yan. Something you'd do in cob, not engine-side.

That is absolutely stunning. I never expected to see Spring have water like that.
Any chance of a similar magic out of the blue fix for the land? :D

one thing i've always wanted to see for land is to use the detail texture as a normal map (bump map) instead of just a transparent overlay

Maybe people just need to play with the settings more; but I agree, the water there should be showing more of the sky colour, and less of the main light source.

Can you honestly say the water fits that map? It looks great, but in terms of the overall composition, I liked being able to see the reflection of the stars and the moon in the water on that map, it was one of the coolest parts of this map. Absorbing the colour of the sky (more so then the light source) not only makes the water more realistic, but actually makes the whole map feel more cohesive visually.

Actually water should not reflect stars or even skies if it has waves. Only a water what is like a mirror, reflects those. Screenshot what Rattle posted, is bretty accurate. Only thing what I would change is the lighting area, so it would not be so lighted on such big area. It should be more darker by lighting and the middle area be brighter.
But I'm verry happy to see such water effect on spring!!
ps. That water color might come from water itself, how clear it is and how deep. Deeper sea is always darker and unless it's like somekind paradise, it should be dark so you cant see units going under surface on night unless you start staring the water to find them. But it seems to be up of modders

Beyond a couple of metres depth, the colour of the sea is represented mostly by the reflection of the colour of the sky. Have a look on google of the sea on a cloudy day, or the sea on a blue sky day, or the sea at dawn/sunset. It'll be the exact same place, exact same depth, and the sea colour will be totally different.
If anything, the success of a map like this would rest in it having very dark water highlighted by clear bright spots.

who cares about realistic lighting, it's 70000 times better than the current /water 0

You have not been out on the ocean at night. I have. I spent most of my weekends on the water when I was a kid everywhere from 5-500ft deep. Yeah water reflects the night sky. Deep water does have it's own tint that it may apply to the reflection but the waves are not brighter then the sky.
That water is lit for daylight. yeah waves would cause disruption in the sky reflection but the sky would dominate the colors of the water at night. Seriously. However, as kloot says the settings can and probably for that map need to be adjusted.

All of that's adjustable, per map, including the main bitmaps, Smoth. I have some new wave bitmaps I've been working on, to depict different kinds of water, too.

The water should almost always be darker than the sky...
