Get a new computer.
I actually had someone tell me to do that once in the cilent when I asked about the alt-tab bug...and he was seirious. Seiriously stupid that is...

Anyways, try reinstalling it, if that dosnt work, try clearing all you registry data, I forget if thats possible in IE though.

Get MS Antispyware first (if you have a not-so-genuine Windows it can be hard as they fixed the LegitCheckControl ActiveX control hack, try eMule). It's useful even without those problems you have. Having done that poke around the options, check if IE has the correct proxy settings. If your proxy died / switched IP and you didn't configure FF to use any proxy this could be the case.

wait a minute... why do you want to go to MSN in the first place? MSN works fine in firefox, are you saying msn messenger isn't able to connect to the internet either? my guess would be a firewall issue in that case... get gaim anyways... MSN messenger is all yucky and bloated.

PS: To Clairify, MSN messenger isn't the same program as IE so the fact that both are having a problem connecting is a sign of a third party causing a problem (spyware/firewall/corrupt service/etc...)...

Check your proxy settings, MSN will use the same proxy settings as IE would but Firefox will not. Goto Tools -> Internet Options -> Click the Connections Tab -> Click LAN Settings. See if a proxy has been entered.

You need IE to use MSN? Thats news to me. Must be another example of me freaking out some messenging system. First: My AIM runs WITHOUT triton, with no problems. AT all.

Second: My MSN appears not to need IE at all...
