Supreme Commander???

Hey all, haven't been on the forum for a while. I was looking at maybe getting either Supreme Commander or Forged Alliance. Is one better then the other or if I get Forged Alliance is there a need to get the original Supreme Commander?

Forged Alliance is much better. You don't need Supreme Commander to run Forged Alliance.

Actually, for single player, SupCom2 is much more fun.

Really? That's interesting. Seems like most people hate that game with a passion. I really wouldn't know. Can you elaborate on that thought.

On a side note, thinking about it, I don't see why this would be one of the worst places to talk about SC. I still love Spring it's just that the AI isn't all that and I was looking for something with a good AI I could skirmish against. I like spring but sometimes in random online games you get slammed by some elite player who just bum rushes you. Not that the AI won't but sometimes I like to get an AI into a position I can keep them at bay and just play leisurely defense and draw the game out a little bit.

Anyways, so are you sating skirmishing in SC2 is better.

I have Supcom 2, it is fun enough but it is very obviously dumbed down for console players. Also it barely runs on my hardware on lowest settings. I daresay some spring games can both look and run much better on my computer, which is not what I would have expected, especially considering that Supcom 2 was touted to be much more optimized than the original.

I don't have the original or FA but I played them at a friends house. They were fun too (still some features that spring could steal there), but who knows if anyone plays them online anymore.

Supcom 2 is trash. They tried to consolize it and even made it dumbed down by console standards. The handful of good ideas they had are overwhelmed by the design problems. Gotta give them respect for realizing their head was up their ass and patching the biggest and worst change out of it just recently though.

Pick up Supcom and Forged Alliance in the gold bundle or whatever it's called, you can usually get it on sale for like $10 or something on Steam or Impulse. As I understand it, you need the first one installed to play as the original races in multiplayer, so it's worth the small price to get both.

Supcom 2 with the infinity war expansion and the latest patches does much to remedy the issues.

They've changed the economic system so it works closer to TA again, resources are only deducted once the construction is started, not when its requested, and you can queue up items that you cant afford yet, which makes construction massively easier and removes much of the fail. There's a tonne of new maps and units, and a redone research tree with new technologies and super units.

All in all Supcom 2 has made massive improvements since it was initially released

edit: They totally fucked up the campaign though, epic fail, play supcom + forged alliance if its the missions you want.

HOLY SHIT! That's the picture I took when I was visiting in Pomona several years ago (In the reflection you can see the red vw beetle that I was driving (my sister in law's car)!

Just get Starcraft 2.

Not comparable at all.
Starcraft doesnt feel like you command an army in a war.
Supreme commander does.
