Yes, by the power of words alone, you can transmogrify being a good-for-nothing lazy loafer into having a condition others don't undestand, and that will excuse anything.

This is quite possibly the funniest sentence I have ever read.

Actually quite the opposite; abstain for a bit, and then set some goals and convince yourself somehow that the only way to get laid is to complete your goals.

You will be amazed at the sudden amount of motivation you have.

Interesting topic. I lacked motivation to read all the replies, but I'd approach this issue as follow:

Every man has a potentia - a potential or capacity, a non-realized possibility for which there is still an ability or disposition. (from wikipedia) You need to distinguish creativity and talent from this however. It's more complicated issue...

Every man is fundamentally lazy, slacker, shiftless or whatever you may wanna call it. It's because one does not see need to do the task confronted or grasp to opportunity to be used. It's something inner ofc. If a cat is feeded, he rather sleep and chill out. Same applies to man.

Therefore one needs ignition before combustion. One needs to find the the spark, the true motivation from himself.

This far its quite straighforward to me, although haven't put much thinking on it yet...

It is just how much value one puts to certain things. If one values money over reputation he most likely will make, let's say for example, bad program program like windows.

I think bigger question is, how one values things in life. It's purely subjective though shared socially in culture as norms, but anyway its purely subjective understanding whether man should always be on move, do something creative and useful etc. This is very essential ethos especially for the traditions of western way of life.

I'd personally see that if one values easy-going and slackness over doing then its ok, as long as it doesnt harm others. Though I presonally respect more creativiness and intelligence.

On other hand, there is also one very important aspect of being productive and efficient and that is energy. Some people just don't have as much energy for the task as others. Some people find some things more hard and energy consuming than others thus being not so productive in certain things.

Yet again, I personally prefer quality over quantity. It's all just subjective perspectives.

So, for use ones potentia, he must have right energy plus ignition for the combust.

did not read whole thread, but wanted to again sate what Licho already kind of said:
when not doing anything, there is nothing wrong in your actions, but you of course see what others do wrong, and you would do better. you do not usually not see what you would have done worse then the others. therefore, everyone doing nothing will come to the conclusion that he is better then others, and therefore this conclusion is of no worth.
the only exception is the one that is worse then everyone else in everything, or something comparatively artificial.

thus, what Licho already said, you can only compare actions to actions, not your imagined possible actions if you had motivation to actual actions.

Lazyness IMO has a lot to do with bad parenting.
If you were not imbued with the proper habits and values and had nobody to look up to that was a motivated and productive you will have lower chances of being productive yourself.
The laziness is a natural step of the human evolution.

You are born tired and live to rest.
