I posted a criticism of Arghs UI.

I explained what was wrong with it.

I explained why this was the case and how the problem manifested.

I then suggested and justified corrections.

The result?

My post was deleted. I was not told. No note was made.

This is unnacceptable. There are rules here, and just because Argh has a sub-forum doesn't mean he can do anything and everything he wants. It's a sub-forum not a free for all pass.

If argh doesnt like a response, he should edit it out and put an explanation why at the very least, or even tell the person whose post he deleted that he moderated them.

In future if this happens again I will be reposting a copy until argh gives up. I've been here almost 6 years and this kind of abuse of priviledges is atrocious.

We need to foster a free atmosphere here with rules that are consistent and where sane discussion isn't under threat, and for the most part it works, we can't have censorship based on personal preference enforced in pockets threaten it.

Dodging or ignoring moderators actions is unacceptable

Our policy is "Report, don't retaliate". Offenses committed in retaliation will not be seen any less serious then offenses committed without reason.

I'm not sure whether there is any official policy on subforum moderation, or what this policy may be.

as I said, the rules about such matters are fuzzy. I don't want to treat this as a single case. I want to fix/clarify the law, then handle it.

If Im moderated, I want to know, and I want to know why, doesnt have to be a 20 page monologue, a 4 word sentence is normally enough to get the gist of it.

Posts dissapearing and silent censorship because someone didnt like you helping them and would rather not deal with it is unacceptable. It was never acceptable on these forums, so why should new subforums be allowed it?

AF: From what I know - reporting is done via PM, not via a drama thread.

Plus while you and Argh obviously differ on which posts have merit in his threads, have you actually tried PMing him and saying something along the lines of "while you don't appreciate having your posts deleted, it would be nice to at least be informed and/or a remnant of the post being left"?
Open question whether or not he'd be fine with that, but reporting to moderation rather than trying to sort out seems to be the worst way to go forwards to me...

Arghs action would never have gotten a positive reaction. To think you can do that without causing offense is downright stupid.

Considering I built his website for him and supported him on numerous occasions, only adds to the stupidity.

Making a post like this is entertaining but at the same time, I think, does add a small amount of weight to the issue by making it public.

Not to claim that my (over)frequent posts of this type are responsible for anything positive, but I haven't had any surprise buttsecks and/or month-long bans lately for posting things no sane person could find offensive - a great improvement over my situation a few months ago when I had my ability to edit posts removed over something that demonstrably could not have taken place, without warning, notification, or recourse.
