I'm well aware of the fact that he was trying to troll me (while sucking miserably). The more interesting question is why the mods let it happen.
Perhaps because I wasn't trolling.

After what some of the other people have had to say about x64 it might be worth a shot, I'll install it on my laptop and see if it makes any difference. I just hope it can run Dosbox with my games.
Sure seemed like it, Yes dosbox will work fine :-) I played Chuck Yeagers air combat the other day

Do 32-bit and 64-bit apps still require a different executable for each? Is this something that will always be the case? Also, does Spring do 64-bit natively?

What percentage of a brain do Spring's developers have then? I think ATI's been around longer than consumer 64-bit CPUs.

No, no and hahahaha! no. Some programs have 64bit executables, in which case it would be best to get those because they will perform better. 32bit will run fine on 64bit.

Seriously, stop worrying about it, this is stupid! You use it like windows. The chances of you running across something that doesn't like 64bit is extremely rare at this point

You're making a massive mountain out of a hump in the road, and it's ridiculous!

Also, spring64bit... I lolled.

I've been using spring on 64bit for almost 2 years (vista and then win7rc, and then win7 retail). As you can see, I haven't had any trouble.

it's really simple: got more than 3GB memory on board? go 64bit.

I can haz windows binary? Or are you referring to the MT release which may or may not crash out at any given moment?

No, MT is unrelated to 64bit. And probably, if someone gets mingw64 to work.

My laptop came with 32bit Vista. After installing 64bit 7 I now have an extra Gig of RAM that I couldn't see on Windows before. (Retail fail.)

The only problems: I needed to install the latest version of DirectX from their website in order to get some games working, which apparently I wouldn't have had to do in 32bit 7. Also, although the 64bit Windows version of Gimp loads much more quickly, it also only loads up about one time in five, so I've switched back to the (more stable) 32bit build, which is working fine in 64bit Windows.

It seems a fair bit faster (especially booting) but how much of that is Vista-vs-7 instead of 32-vs-64, I don't know.

And annoyingly, ATI haven't made working 64bit Linux drivers for my graphics card yet, so I'll be stuck on 32bit Linux for quite some time now. :(
