still same result.
are you on a 32 bit os?

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
Yes.
Try 55.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
then MAYBE just maybe it is a 64 bit system issue. However, I think my other machine is 32 bit. let me see.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
Anything's possible. Really strange that it's giving that result, but if that's what's up, no wonder you think that it doesn't work.
I'd like to see that geometry if you don't mind, and compare it here, to make sure it's not a video / driver issue.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
it isn't a matter of think it doesn't, it doesn't work.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
Confirmed, it's the OS or something else. It's fine here.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
And I'm on XP Pro. That's really screwed up. I wonder wtf is doing that? You're using the Euler Angle build, I presume?
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
dunno but still obj works without issue because it does store the normals.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
Try this. It's very important to actually open UpSpring first; double-clicking on S3Os opens the oldest version usually. I just put a shortcut on my desktop. This is the last public build of UpSpring from jcnossen, and it fixed a bunch of things.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
didn't work and I should mention I have that version.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
OK. Well, at least now... we finally know what's up. That's really weird that Vista broke it apparently.
Hmm. Try compatibility mode. Not real likely, though.
Sounds like we really need somebody to compile it again, there must be something wrong with a math function that makes it behave differently. Very strange. It explains a lot of the wtf complaints though.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
tried xp service pack 2 and winders 98.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
Same results? WTF. Athlon or intel chipset?
IDK what jcnossen built this on, but that's just strange. It's gotta be a number accuracy problem or something's returning the wrong number of significant digits.
I'm not even touching your 3DS, just viewed it in UpSpring, and it's exactly right, both welds and not-welds... very weird.

one machine (64 bit) intel the other is a 32 bit amd
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
So I have a blessed piece of hardware? OK.
Try the newer build of GLEW32.dll, etc. from Spring. Last thing I can think of, short of somebody poring over the source to find the bug.

Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
too tired and I have other things to do.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
<shrugs> It would be nice to have a complete testing report before anybody tries pestering jc. I just tried it, nothing failed over here.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
I am not staying up all night because you want me to play debug.
Re: obj vs 3ds when importing into upspring
OK, I'll submit a request to get this looked into. Thanks for pinpointing where the issue apparently is. Very strange that it's apparently that hardware-centric, but that's apparently just how it is.
