Great job screaming screaming troll, guys. Someone posts something not completely in line with the cool guys and conventional wisdom and you flip out instantly, without even addressing his points.
1v0ry_k1ng has a point though. It has been shown somewhere (can't find the source now, there are lots of studies about this though) that the strength of a soccer team at one match can be modeled as a normal deviation with a very large standard deviation. So, although strong differences in skill between teams might exists, it happens very often, compared to other sports, that the weak team wins against the strong. The low number of goals per game alone, compared to e.g. basketball, supports this theory. It is not even necessarily a bad thing.
But, to sum it up, the role of luck and coincidence is extremely high in soccer, compared to skill.
edit:
To be more precise, the results of a single game are quite random, but at the end of the season, the good teams will probably still be in a good position in the league.
It's probably exactly that what makes soccer so fascinating, no victory is sure, even the best teams lose often.
