also someone clean the ugly infologs stuff.

well, i use Vista and no problem with UAC - just a matter of installing stuff not designed for Vista into other dir, like C:\Games, C:\Any-Name-Here, D:\Games et cetera et cetera... just a matter of knowing the system :)Pxtl wrote:If Archivemover dumps files into the Spring directory, that causes trouble with UAC on Windows Vista... or even worse, throws errors if a player is stuck with user-level permissions.
or checking current system version (+ dest dir + user mode if Vista... Win7 shouldn't make any problems here) or simply changing default install dir (problems with auto-updates i guess)FLOZi wrote:Then release an XP version and a Vista version. Or have it first check if the Spring Dir is writeable?
Good thing that spring is designed to work with vista.NTG wrote:well, i use Vista and no problem with UAC - just a matter of installing stuff not designed for Vista into other dir, like C:\Games, C:\Any-Name-Here, D:\Games et cetera et cetera... just a matter of knowing the system :)Pxtl wrote:If Archivemover dumps files into the Spring directory, that causes trouble with UAC on Windows Vista... or even worse, throws errors if a player is stuck with user-level permissions.
How does this helps for the following problems:FLOZi wrote:Then release an XP version and a Vista version. Or have it first check if the Spring Dir is writeable?
depends if you ask for Spring as a whole or also some other apps included/created to work with. well, Spring as engine yes - works pretty well, no problems caused by system/engine so far, some lobbies- depends (SpringLobby fine, TASClient couldn't run until i cleared it's dir structure + contents (took me a while to figure out why updates doesn't work for me => old contents), AFLobby - too old to work with current unitsych, same with running QTLobby 2 weeks ago), directory structure - some (long) time ago there were possible problems with UAC unless not default dir (that's why i use different path and i'm a little #$%%^& off when TASClient or SpringDownloader asks for privileged mode when it doesn't need it... especially as Total Cmdr etc asks only when needed - got used to it).Auswaschbar wrote:Good thing that spring is designed to work with vista.
I can confirm that there's no setting available in the los modinfo settings which recreates old BA behaviour, you either get all features + instant los on enemy dragons teeth or different types of limited feature los.mongus wrote:Ugh, on further testing, now you can see where your enemy is building dragon teeths.
yes, you dont need to have LOS on that spot, you just see the DT appearing like mushrooms.
also function Spring.GetFeatureTeam seems not to be working as it used to.

thanks, i have never tried to open one of those execs in editor - i guess i had missed (forgotten?) part about .NET apps on lectures and my one's never required admin rights...lurker wrote:Code: Select all

There have been many new features which have been used in BA alone not to mention other mods/games.Anyone wrote:Just a question that may sound a bit offensive, but really isn't meant that way. Why are you pumping out new (buggy) versions like they cost nothing when there is a completely stable and working version available? Basically no ESSENTIAL things were added since 0.7x. Why not simply fix the remaining little bugs and STAY with a version?
You know, like, "never change a running team"?![]()
I mean you guys/girls are great and can do whatever you want but why waste your precious time with buggy and unneeded new features, you surely have better things to do. (like actually playing Spring for example)
