When windows 7 Hits, Microsoft will have finally resolved every issue with the Windows line and software will be easy to develop because microsoft will be standards compliant and fully and accurately document all features. Also, every windows user will be given a free pony.

Forb, get on the lobby and talk to me. You showed up to rant and then left. You claimed spring assumed a program files installation and fails elsewhere; you claim here that it fails on 64 bit. Those are both blatantly false. Report the bugs, but don't guess without labeling it as a guess.

i've got the error spamming stuff, but only on exit and a single hit on enter solves it; it's related to torrents IIRC and it's damn hard to fix.

Yeah I also get that error spawning rarely on XP 32Bit. Only happens though when closing it - especially while it's trying to update (there really should be an "Updating" window just like for map caching as just the app looking like it's idling isn't the best solution)...

Same here, error spam on close. Not every time though.

More annoying is the current bug with the player and battle lists not updating correctly.

FA, there are absolutely no guarantess you get for any spring related "product".

Is it broken? Help fix it if you care... even by proper testing.
Running around and screaming solves nothing.

I would also like to note that there are no guarantees either for springlobby or tasclient. At any point development of these can stop or restart.

So making claims about future is pointless. What matters is what runs better now :)

Tasclient works just fine for me atm. When something major breaks i will probably try to fix it, at least until point when springlobby is better than tasclient in all respects. Atm it has some persistent (repored months ago) problems like:

- ring does not ring
- battle window fails to redraw often causing duplicate/missing people
- chat windows always scroll to bottom
- missing neat gui features like player filtering
- does not detect new mods/maps without explicit reload (in tasclient doubleclicking on game rechecks mod insallation)
- torrent system seems to be bugged

I get the errorbox spam on close, but that's the least of my worries. The bigger ones is that the player datagrids in the battleroom are misbehaving horribly. Half the time they visibly refresh sluggishly, and the other half the time they fail to refresh on updates - any change in status that makes the order of sorting in the battleroom list do silly things like leaving a player in his old position in the list while adding him to a new row, such that you've got one guy appearing in 2 spots in the list. This one's sad because it used to work just fine before.

Either way, all those bugs are workable. My biggest 0.79 bug is that I have to launch SpringLobby in Admin mode (TASClient is always in admin, iirc, so it's not a problem in TASClient) for Spring to connect to the game server.

(vista/32).

That's not an error. It tries to emulate TASClient behavior. :-)

Licho wrote: - ring does not ring
On my PC the PC speaker (that tiny little thing inside the pc) is used. So I hear rings.
- chat windows always scroll to bottom
You can disable text appending (right mouse click). Then you can scroll freely and scroll bars do not change. When you enable it again it will add all text (even stuff said in the meantime - no loss)
- missing neat gui features like player filtering
Make a ticket if you need that.
- does not detect new mods/maps without explicit reload (in tasclient doubleclicking on game rechecks mod insallation)
There is only a ticket for "Reload mod/maps before prompting to autodownload".

The rest is known, reported and waits for fixes. :-)

The Error spam happens on my XP-32 system, too. But after some seconds all th windows dissapear and close themselves.

However: SL tries to download maps that ARE already in my maps folder (when clickin at some replays) and can't be arsed to stop trying that. And then the replay can't be watched at all. <sigh>

Sadly TSClient doesn't work at all in my 0.79, i always used it to watch those replays then...
