CRAIG has multiple difficulty levels now; I haven't tried the easier ones, but the default is Hard, which gets infinite resources :p A real cheap way to beat up CRAIG is to kill his AA guns with interceptors, then spam ground-attack aircraft. Works especially well with US.

Regarding the hedgehogs (tank obstacles): Unfortunately, a feature is either blocking or not, IIRC features can't have yardmaps. Maybe we should make hedgehogs built by the line and have them turn neutral, with gaps large enough for infantry to squeeze through but not vehicles.

Not sure if you understood the point I tried to make:
They currently are spaced so infantry can slip through. I now just noticed that the deployable mg somehow can't do that (Do they have a different movement class with bigger size?)...

Oh, I see. Yes, they are bigger (2x2 instead of 1x1).

Seriously - tune it down! At least there has something to be done about CRAIG and tanks. When doing some 2v1 matches it was impossible to win when he reached tanks and you got no good frontline next to his base. We actually only won once when we managed to fortify the "exits" of his base (luckily he just had two). Good thing he won't target your 5 anti-tank guns / tank-destroyers first when rushing his 20 tanks out... :mrgreen:

As an AI in most cases is about training / learning the game it currently is overkill.
Lol, suppose I will:
  • change it to easy or medium by default,
  • reduce cheating at medium a fair bit, (hard should remain near unkillable IMO :-))
  • introduce some hard limits on amount of factories in medium too (it has this at easy already)

Good spot, hadn't realized yet the build tree changes (non cloning commissars) had broken C.R.A.I.G.

Fixed now.

Managed to figure out how to limit number of units, tried to bring it down to 100.

End result: Playing against C.R.A.I.G were really nice performance wise (using that intel 965GM GPU) but still a challenge. For those with "shitty" GPUs that cannot cope with Spring44, I recommend retrying with limited number of units! The game seem to still be intresting even if the numbers of units is greatly reduced!

Does the air control radar have an icon in the next version?

Keep up the excellent work.

The radar now has an icon, and all the rest of icon-less things were fixed, too (those I could find that is). If you notice any units lacking icon/buildpic (noticeable when using group select widget), let me know. Currently I fixed buildpics on:
- Russian ZiS-3 gun in deployed form;
- all 4 deployable machineguns;
- Russian AA gun in deployed form;
- Panzerschreck inf.
The fixes will be in the next release (link to preview version of it can be found in #s44 lobby channel).

is it please possible before next release to make all radar-icons from TGA fileformat into DDS like others did so we few ATI-Card users can actually play S44?

(I'm not an ATI user and so I don't know) What is the problem with tga on ATI cards? Do radar icons not show up or what?
If simply converting icons into dds solves it, then that's a quick change, but first I need to know what's wrong. DDS is not very convenient to work with, I'd avoid that format for icons if possible.

I know of no problem with TGAs for ATI cards. Did you try putting the unit icon distance to something between 200 and 300 yet via springsettings? I also don't know of any mod that uses DDS for the radar icons. You probably shouldn't anyway because of the maximum of a interpolated 4bit alpha for DXT5 compression. Might give some not so nice borders and as the icons are all very small they don't eat up much memory in umcompressed form anyway...

Thanks for hearing me,
yes i know about the Unit Icon Detail and Unit Icon Distance settings these are all fine

I made resized screenshots once of the current Luettich version and for comparison from the latest CA built that uses DDS and has working radaricons on any setting.

take a look and think about it -i doubt you have any visible quality loss if you changed the file format to a lossy one.

This might be it - when looking at the icon files the sizes are not just randomly chosen (pretty much every new icon has a different size ^^) but some of them even are a bit oversized (324x324 for lightmg?!)...

I resized all the icons to power of 2 sizes. Should be in the next testing build (links to those are in #s44 channel topic) which is likely to be put up today or tomorrow.

Pre-L2 v03 release is up, link is in #s44 topic. Icons should be fixed, as well as an aircraft-related desync (thanks to Tobi for finding and fixing that one).

wonderful results, on a quick game on the preRelease all the Radar icons are fixed here.
The only icon that is now broken, is the "Ammunition Icon" on vehicles/tanks when i move out camera to large distances.
