If you're gonna play anyways feel free to start a character under someone's tutelage. From experimentation it seems that low level characters get a buff from having a strong master, they pull some of the master's skills over.

Not the most amazing game ever, but I found the procedural character generation pretty interesting. Body type effects HP, and costume seems to effect what kind of equipment and skills the player gets (character class). I do wish you had more manual control over the direction the characters took though.
