I think met the guy who made the 1313 paste shit, he might have only been a man working on it, I dunno, but he had a block of it and I actually met him at IHOP at 3am in Lubbock one night.. ... His name was
Rix Victory the 2nd... I did some reading on the material, sounds ALOT like the same block of shit he had... the guy was a bit, lost, in the head.. but very friendly... he was kinda neat to talk to..

so im saying... IF the armour can stop the bullet its gonna prevent you from suffering any trauma, broken bones
and as i said after that....the armour's ability to stop penetration (esp. from AP rounds) is highly questionable
thats where the killing power comes from in most of today's high velocity rifle rounds....entering the target and tumbling or fragmenting, ripping the shit out of your innards, theyre not KE weapons

Honestly after watching the videos im only so impressed.
The first video which is the one dealing with weapons fire fails to show the suit in action. Instead it is centered on blocks. These blocks look to be about 8-12 inches thick and making them unwieldly and somewhat impractical for use in BDU. Of course you could peel back layers to make them thinner but then you lose protection. Secondly they contain alot more than just his miracle paste, and im quoting from the vid itself, "60 layers of Kevlar, Steel Plates, Aluminum Plates and ceramic shields" (move the seek bar so its left end matches up with the line in the previous button). The other four components of these bags are tired and true protection againt weapons fire. All his paste seems to do is reduce the effects of fire which while impressive (as shown by the second video) isn't that far a step foward. Also the soldier must be completely encased in these blocks or varying levels of weapon fire will still penetrate. However being entirely covered would restrict mobility and environmental awareness. And while they are great for armoring vehicles unless you have total coverage of the vehicle, it is still vulnerable. They may work great against landmines but the windows are still vulnerable and you can't just cover over every window with these blocks. If you do, you lose a jeeps biggest advantage (visibilty) and might as well just use a Stryker or M113 as you get a similar amount protection and visibilty. Im not trying to whine about nor demean his work (i would love to see those block get installed in the floors and doors of light wheeled vehicles like jeeps, trucks or HMMWVs) i just think that you have to take this at face value. Its better armor for vehicles but not so pratical for body armor.
Im not trying to be negative here but that suit is in none of the videos and that is the main focus of this thread. With out videos of the guy in a suit having someone unload several mags of 7.62 over varying distance firing at all points on the suit im not totally convinced. Im not belittling the guys accomplishments nor do i think that this stuff should be shelfed until we get the perfect solution; i just think that his talents could be put to better use in an R&D lab with government support rather than working in his backyard out of his own pocket.

exactly erasmus a bullet does not do the same sort of damage as a baseball bat, it can still have more momentum however, that momementum is applied across a much much smaller space than a bat impact. Given the sorts of combat situations troops are in, being able to muffle or reduce injury from a baseball bat impact is useless. Troops in say Iraq suffer casualties from improvised explosives and weapons fire, not mobs weilding bats or bears. Given there is no evidence that has been put forward showing this suit being shot at and deflecting these bullets or at least resisting them. I really dont see it doing much for protecting combat troops from actual combat, might be great to stop people attacking you with knives and bats, but we stopped using those in combat alot about several 100 years ago. I want to see this suit protect something or someone from some sort of fragmentation explosive or weapons fire.. then I will believe that it has an value.. until you show me that this is a waste of time and bullshit..

You need a MASSIVE gun to impart much kinetic energy to the target with a bullet. The amount of energy contained within your average handgun bullet is laughable, it's like getting hit by a paint ball when it's properly diffused, no where near knocking you off your feet. Use your brain, physics dictates that if a bullet were able to actually push you off your feet then the person firing the gun would have to be pushed off their feet as well, equal and opposite reactions. Bullets trowing people backwards is just hollywood BS.
And the simple fact that humain nervious systems operate to keep you alive. Sure throwing yourself backwards dosn't do much against a bullet. If a bullet goes right through the body - then yes, kinetic impact isn`t that big, but if a bullet with known mass is traveling with known speed then gets stopped instantly, resulting impact force is easy to calculate. the formula involves speed and mass. A bullet has a really small mass but a high speed, giving it a decent/lowish amount of kinetic energy.
