Spring RTS Engine

just wondering how to edit widgets in a game archive and add or edit without having to compress it every time

Imo NOT recommend to learn Lua (or even scripting) via spring, it will take longer than reading normal tutorials first. I am using other resources to learn Lua. I am not trying to use Spring to learn Lua. I just like seeing examples of implementation. I should have clarified what I was asking for. ...

I have perused scripts trying to understand what they do and they are all very complex. Are there any scripts in particular that are easier to understand for beginners?

Whenever i try to update, it says Couldn't clean up C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Spring\update. Then it makes me download an update in a zip folder, and when I unpack it in the Spring folder nothing happens.

I just had to re-install Spring. I downloaded some maps and games off springfiles, and put them both in their respective folders. This surprises me. In my first game one person sort of took me under his wing and taught me the basics. Might this be just a fluke thing?

So, I followed a guide in the lua development section, but when I look for Spring/LuaUI/widgets folder to put the file in it isn't there. Do I have to go into the actual game file and put it in there? If so how do I do that?
