Re: Lobbydev meeting minutes 2012-02-26

Sorry but I can't make it to meetings at 5:30am. I'm don't expect to be included in votes if I'm absent. If I cared strongly enough I would've dragged myself out of bed. Proposal 0 (LISTCOMPFLAGS): . abstain I don't see the need. Clients and servers should just ignore unsupported commands and traili...

Re: Lobbydev meeting minutes 2012-02-19

Prompting people before the game starts slows down the system for everyone. If a client joins the matchmaking queue then he should be ready to start immediately. If he wants to make a sandwich, he should leave the queue, finish his sandwich, then join it again. Just my $.02 ofc, but it's how matchma...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.06.10

New version. Changes: Added download and chat tabs. Added a GUI for rapid. Can auto update mods Votebox works Unitsync calls are cached to disk. So changing maps/mods is a lot faster. Added support for different minimap types (metal/elevation maps) Minimap draws significantly faster. Minimap scales ...

Re: SpringLobby - please implement !join

I'm sorry if I my posts came across in a certain way. However I wouldn't say I "do nothing". I have coded a working lobby and, even if I am the only one who uses it, I think that does entitle me to an opinion. Btw, Alphalobby has supported "!join" before I posted anything in this...

Re: SpringLobby - please implement !join

...there cnanot be opt-in in lobby (asking user every time) because it breaks whole principle and makes it impossible to work. It has to know before asking. Juggler doesn't have to ask every time. Lobbies can tell the autohost host either when logging in, or when joining the battle. Ideally the lob...

Re: SpringLobby - please implement !join

Blocking Springlobby seems to be just a punishment for not supporting something which should never have been mandatory anyway. It's not part of the protocol and there's no consensus support for it either. There're plenty of players who simply don't want to take part and if they're moved they'll leav...

Re: Unitsync.dll, about function

Not aware of VFS Here's a simple example without error checking. //load mod const char *modName = "Balanced Annihilation V7.63"; Init(); GetPrimaryModCount(); int modIndex = GetPrimaryModIndex(modName); GetPrimaryModArchiveCount(modIndex); AddAllArchives(GetPrimaryModArchive(modIndex)); c...

Re: SpringLS 0.37 (TASServer renamed)

Does the server no longer send "PING" (and expect "PONG" from client)? The server doesn't ever send "PING". Clients send "PING" and the server responds with "PONG". (according to the protocol: http://springrts.com/dl/tasclient/ProtocolDescription.xm...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.9

Since I've been playing Spring lately I've decided to fix this lobby. It shouldn't crash randomly now. Other changes: Unified menubar, tabbar and status bar into a single toolbar. Battleroom has been significantly redesigned. Supports PNG sidepics (and now requires devIL.dll) Autounspec button. Dedi...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.8

Sorry, I'm not going to fix anything. I thought I might start working on this again at some stage, but realistically; I probably won't. Knowing win32 doesn't help getting a job so I don't really care about maintaining this.

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.5

Development hasn't entirely stopped, the issue you mention is fixed now. I lost some progress a while ago (which is what motivated me to upload source) so its possible some other bugs are reintroduced that weren't in an older version.

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.5

Source is now available at https://code.google.com/p/alphalobby/ . I haven't had enough free time to work on this for over a month, and tbh I'm not sure when/if I'm going to develop it further. Code is ugly and disorganised, I never got around to cleaning it up, but probably better to have something...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.1

I could add some compile time options to 'brand' the binary with a default game, which would allow a splash screen, auto updating the game, and some other tweaks that wouldn't make sense if the lobby is game-agnostic. It wouldn't be pretty since its win32 not opengl / directx, but I could match the ...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.1

Auto downloading a game on launch is fairly easy to add as a hidden configuration option. There needs to be some way to browse rapid sources to have a good (ie. discoverable) implementation though. Currently it's only possible to download a mod after someone else hosts with it, I know this sucks. As...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.2

I think the problem is that temp file I write to is on a different partition, so the move fails (copy and delete behavior should really be automatic, but its not). The path to "my documents" isn't hard coded; I'm pretty sure I am using the correct method to generate it. Here's a fix. http:...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.1

Still window size is not remembered. Windows size is width & height, not left corner position. Works for me. It is strange that the window position is remembered but not size, because both are handled together. Would be helpful to know OS. I've only tested stuff in XP, though I can access win 7...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.05.1

http://springfiles.com/system/files/downloads/spring/lobby-clients/alphalobby-0.05.1.exe Rapid is slightly faster now, I think I'm pretty much at the limit unless I did something insane like manipulate sockets directly. I got an extra 5 seconds or so when HDD is bottleneck at the cost of 100MB RAM,...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.04.9

Listing a directory is a fairly expensive operation and would take longer than just checking whether the files in a package exist locally. (which is all I currently do. I think its safe to assume that if a file exists, then it's uncorrupted) And yes I did test this. Listing the contents of a directo...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.04.9

Thanks, your forum post pretty much covered everything, its done already. I got download time down to 77 seconds, from ~90 seconds. My main focus now is compensating for hard drive time, it takes 25 seconds to scan pool directory. Even when I start downloads earlier, it seems like network performanc...

Re: AlphaLobby Alpha 0.04.9

I think I'll be able to get the streamer to download in 5-10 seconds less time than the old method of spamming http requests. Its not going to be a huge difference. Http actually doesn't have much bandwidth overhead, its main problem is latency, but since I was already sending requests in parallel, ...
