Unit Development

Units are the forces you build and control in Spring, they are pulled from definition files based (possibly loosely) on the archives created for the original Total Annihilation game.

Units made for TA can usually be dropped into Spring folder and work fine. If they have custom textures, they'll be ignored until they are converted to the Spring format. Spring interprets unit scripts a bit differently, and that may cause problems too.

There are a bunch of converted unit packs to be found at FileUniverse

As you may or may not know, Spring doesn't use the unit set of the old/original Total Annihilation (OTA), but a balancing mod called XTA, made by one of the SY's as well. The units statistic have been heavily modified, many models resized and rescripted, and the buildtree is different.
