It really depends on your distro. Some are easier than others.
I believe if you run something like fedora you can just do "yum install springlobby".

If like me, you run CentOS 7, you are basically forced to build from source because apparently it's not included in CentoS repos, epel, etc.

SDL2 and DevIL (required dependencies for building) are also not supported by CentOS so you will also need to build those two from source... Also had to fix a broken symbolic link for libGL because of my nvidia gpu drivers, apparently. Also, google and "yum whatprovides" are your friends.

So, if you are a not-expert and have no intention to become one, these repos are basically non-existant.
We should have two LinuxLists then- apt & play.
and try & confug & play.

Also additional incentives for package maintainers to get there stuff together.

I have ubuntu trusty 64, and spring ppa is really outdated. sringlobby doesn't download engines.

To play I used playdeb.net repository and installed springlobby 0.243.
Everything worked fine with this.

It then updated to 0.244, then I had a lot of problems.

I compiled 0.245, and still can't download engine 101 and others. some engines can download still....

0.244 simply segfaulted immediately.
I then deleted .spring folder, and now it can't download most engines like 101.0. It says mirror not found.
I could download 100.0 98.0 and some games.

I'm trying to revert to 0.243 now.
