Zomg you don't know how to mod?
Im shocked! Because all of us others were born with this skill and had to learn nothing. Smoth made his first 3d model while still connected to placenta.

And thank you that we can work on the idea for you for free!

Show some respect Licho, he donated a idea for the cause.

YEAH!

I crafted a dragon out of floating bits of protein while I was in my second week of development!

Heightmap is 2D. CC is side on. I don't see how the games would be related in any way save for theme.

Anyway, in zero-k you can terraform the land to make trenches or hills, which is a bit "bunker building RTS style."

You can do even worser things. If you just unhook your head from the idea, that the rts map is viewed from above. but instead you view it from the side. Now you can create rooms, and uncreate rooms. And all you need to alter is the gravity... and everything else. Im cocksure the devs will gladly lend a hand to this noble endavour.

TL,dr; Devs.. its there problem now

Also did someone post the tutorial links allready?
http://springrts.com/wiki/SpringTutorialGame

Sorry, kid, you know, actually this is all quite unfair. Because we all started out like you, with great idea, and not a clue what we were demanding of the people who should put them into place. But this is open source, here you are your own-ceo, your own-coder, your own modeller, and (that part would be most of your existance if you tryied in a regular game company) your own-tester and your own coffee boy.

Dont think of us as mean, old bastards, who just want to discard your ideas. Some of them might even be great. The problem is, we got ideas of our own we are following through. And we do. Stick to them like glue. So my working hands, are not for you. If you use knorkes tutorial game, and the tutorial and put one tank into the game, you will realize what a huge heap of work you are allready into.

Also for a cortext comandstyle game, this is simply the wrong place to look. I recommend Unity. Spring is specialized, thats why its so good at what it does.

We are here for you if you have technical questions, and the endurance and focus to see things through (which i didnt have as a teenager, ill admit that, new crazy plan every 2 weeks). You can find someone most of the time in the irc channel. Please forgive us for not entrusting much more into your presence. Most of the spring mod-makers are "homegrown".. means they started with some other task here or in the old TA-Worlds, and then things got downhill from that ;)

Have a nice day.

as we read tutorials, searched webpages, bought programming books, asked questions and fumbled around until we learned how.

sorry man, as soon as I had my hands on code in '96 I started moding, I used existing things as examples how it worked and didn't ask for help until I started gundam rts in 05. I am not the exception, I am not the smartest person, people are lazy.

the model was lost when they threw out the placenta. you would think I would have already looked into version control but it wouldn't be the first time I lost work to the bin..

Go play Minecraft instead.

All I know about Cortex Command is that the physics use no common sense. You can break a weapon by crouching near it...
