As the title says 1,436 maps totalling 19.58 GB

Been playing spring for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. I still remember playing the original TA back in 97 had so much fun with that game. It's just amazing what the developers have done with the spring engine. Been playing Balanced Annihilation and just cant stop lol.

But that's enough of me rambling. Now onto map packs I found it frustrating trying to find and download maps one at a time especially if your auto-hosting so I downloaded all the maps I could find and put them into a torrent.

I know what your thinking (19gb torrent OMG it will take ages).......Not to fear I got a dedicated server with a 100mbps port just for seeding this torrent plus I got friends helping me seed.

I do not see the use for such all-maps pack. Did you sort out some maps or it basically everything that is on springfiles?
I think a mappack with some 10 to 20 selected map might be more usefull. Have some diverse maps from (1v1 to 12v12, land,sea,large,small,...) so players have a starting point.

That might be true but it's always nice to have a diverse range of choice when playing TA style mods.

Why can't you use spring files for file hosting?

Spring map pack 1,436 maps (PAR2 Files)

Just created another torrent containing PAR2 files for anyone wanting to do any file verification or recovery. There shouldn't be any need to use them as most BitTorrent clients have there own hash checking. But it's always better to have them on hand anyway.

Nice idea but I think 1400 maps is a bit over the top. My current maps folder has been accumulating maps for the last year and only has 266 maps, this counts multiple versions of the same map. Of course I don't play all the maps in general circulation so, to estimate a bit, I think you would be hard pressed to find 400 good maps that have been played in the past year.

+1

A pack with the top 100 maps played this year (infos should be available from springfiles, autohosts or someone who makes statistics like bibim) would be around 1-2 GB. That pack could be hosted by HTTP and torrent and probability anyone downloads it would be higher than with a 20GB pack. That pack should be advertised together with spring/mod downloads.

Both packs is an ok idea, just that there could be a smaller pack of the current best maps that would not take so long to download.
