Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
I'm pretty sure recalculating the vertex normals did not fix the normal length.

Excuse the 'bump' (if you can bump a sticky)
the images in this thread are broken, and I would like to follow this tutorial. The source seems to indicate that they were hosted on spring.clan-sy.com - perhaps they were reshuffled elsewhere due to the new website?
Thanks for any help with this.

Also note that the link to the max s3o exporter is broken:

Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
I am trying to run the app, the error message reads that the application is calling some non-existing address (00x0 or something like that) and could not be "run". I have uninstalled it again, but before I try to reinstall, does anybody have any ideas about what I can do to make it work this time? Should I uninstall iTunes and QuickTime first?

Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
Anyone know the one who wrote the s30 exporter for max? I have the max5, and it needs the max8, was wondering if there was a older version up and around, that would work with mine.
Also would be happy for any re-route-suggestions -
export to that tool, than to that, and for that you can easily find the exporter... such stuff.
Good night, gentleman.

Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
you can export obj models, and then use blender or something else to export s3oPicassoCT wrote:Anyone know the one who wrote the s30 exporter for max? I have the max5, and it needs the max8, was wondering if there was a older version up and around, that would work with mine.

ofc its not the best solution but it's better than none at all
Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
thx kaiserj, thats the sort of solution i was searching for
Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
just a tip, because im not sure exactly what your process is... but if you use stuff like transforms and rotates, do the old "cube reset"
create 1x1x1 cube, attach models, delete cube. it will fix the transform information. not all of my models were mucked like this, but if your obj file seems to have strange issues (parts are wrong size or wrong location) then this is a good way to fix it

Re: 3DS Max UV Mapping Tutorial
I usually reset-transform everything i have made in max.. but will keep to that tip. thx again.
