Re: c't magazine email
Issue 24/2010 was released today and Kernel Panic is included on its cover-DVD. There is also a small article (just a few lines) and a screenshot. I can scan it tomorrow at work if someone is interested.

Re: c't magazine email
hi,
today i was attending a local german linux-user-group - for the first time.
talking about this and that i said: "i play springrts".
one guy with a netbook went to springrts.com and said "oh! kernel panic.." - and there was this cd from c't 24/10 on the table - it includes spring with kernel panic.
cd had sign saying "for ages 12 and up".
now: offtopic tale following......
so.. on the fly spring was installed on ubuntu (or was it pure debian?) on his netbook (about 12 megs over umts stick), and i set up a game ai vs ai. spring was in apt-sources - great.
some quirks on ubuntu install :
-firsttime user is still confronted with screen "select map/mod dir" and "select unitsync" - owner of netbook didn't now how to handle it.
-singleuser with no map and mod is startup screen - even as there was only one mod it was not default.
-netbook hat resolution of 1024x600 - i had to switch to 800x600 to get it work
-choosing right ai was successfull on third try - aai and others didn't work of cause, only kernelAI works on kernelpanic.
afterwards the ppl in the tavern could enjoy watching a great open source game :)
it worked fine on this quite new eeepc, don't know which one it was.
i like spring - but it still has probs like years ago.
and then: i'd like to see a stable version of BA - one which can be played for some years and can be distributed with magazines.
to the developers and all:
good work! go on! have luck! good fun!

Re: c't magazine email
wait, the version that is included on the c't CD includes AAI and other AIs beside kernel panic AI?
Re: c't magazine email
ooooo, the only native AIs that should even be considered are Shard and Imbaczecs AI
Re: c't magazine email
I don't know what's on C'T DVD but I only made a Windows installer, no linux ones. Ideally a KP install should have no external AI, all KP maps, and a link to start Spring with the single player menu startscript.

"wait, the version that is included on the c't CD includes AAI and other AIs beside kernel panic AI?"
dunno. as i said, we haven't tried that c't cd there, we installed spring from ubuntu sources.
